Sending my Mojave to Dave!

Well guys, this next week I am going to be sending my Mojave Peacemaker to have Dave do the Kitchen Sink Mod. I am really looking forward to it. One question I have it, what kind of tubes are everyone using in there Friedman Modded Amps/Marsha? I may have Dave swap out the tubes.... specifically preamp tubes. I have Shegang EL34Bs in there right now.

:confused: Is this the amp Twister/Jade modified ? Dave Freidman siad in a thread a few months back he prefers JJ power tubes. My Friedman modded marshall came with JJ e34l's in it. Knock on wood this amp is the only one i have ever owned that the JJ power tubes actually manage to stay in there without going nuclear . :lol: :LOL: dave knows what he is doing brah. :rock:
 
JJ EL34L's in my friedman amp too.seem to balance out perfectly.tried EH's and Winged-C's,but stuck the JJ's back in.for preamp tubes,i use ARS brand chinese hg 12ax7's.have tried Mullards with great results.

Good to hear on the JJs. I have JJ E34Ls in a box. So.. when I talk to Dave I will have to send them with the Mojave. Yeah, this is the amp that Twister modded. I don't like it. There is so much bass its insane. It sounds terrible. You know Rumsfield on our forum. Just ask him what he thought of it when he heard it in person. Yeah.... not good! Thats ok... Dave can gut this amp as far as I am concerned! LOL
 
:doh: What did the mod from Jade cost ya ? Is it that there is a resonounce control or the circuit is just over the top bass ? :confused:
 
The mod was done wrong if there was to much bass. Jose mod have very little bass to them. Anyway send it on.

I'm anxiously awaiting the return of my Reinhardt/Kitchen Sink mod too!! Cant wait to crank it up :rock:
 
The only concern that I have right now is if I need to have the HBE Mod. I am going to get it, but I have that money saving idea in the back of my head!
 
I got it as part of the package deal, however, I may stay in the brown eye most of the time..I'll have to see. I need to go from a def leppard "photograph" rhythm tone to a scorpions "rock you like a hurricance" lead tone, if that makes any sense...

Thats exactly what I am wanting to get! I play early Def Leppard and Scorpions. Then throw in a little bit of stuff like Ratt! But its, kind of nice to have Guns N Roses tones too. Thats why I am thinking that having the HBE would be great to have... just so I can have that extra! I go back and forth trying to decide. Maybe I should just stick with the full Kitchen Sink Mod and decide after I get it!
 
well guns and roses is even less gain then the other stuff. Your choice hbe is cool also. Lost og gain though. The BE is a big sound and anytime you play with less gain it will net you a bigger sound. Dave

Thats cool to hear that the BE is a bigger sound. And with the Saturation switch, I bet it would sound cool. I still think that I am going to get the HBE with the whole package. Hell, I have used a 5150 combo since 1998 as a practice amp. Its not like I can't handle that amount of gain! :rock: Its always nice to be able to get a wide variety of tone out of one amp! Plus, I like how the soundclips sound with the HBE. I have always felt that it is good to be able to have an amp that can go over the edge.... just so I can back off a little if I needed too! ;)

BTW Dave, before you do anything to my amp, plug it in and hear how it sounds! That was supposed to of been the Jose HG Mod! :cry:
