Sure it's been asked before but just pulled my Universe 7 out of the closet and am about to restring it. Usually tune BEADGBE but looking for others thoughts and ideas. I like the standard with the low B but what else sounds cool and what style do you play with it?

I use the standard but typically stay in dropA
If I still had my universe I'd consider a trem-block with a DTuna
I toyed with drop Ab but that calls for different stings/set up to get it right
Any lower & it's time for an 8string!

Was playing in B standard forever. Now playing in C# standard...however the low string is an F# :-X
The joys of having to emulate a bass player.

F sounds much better than I would have thought.

I was just jamming for fun with some guys that used drop F. I think it was regular drop g tuning but the lowest string was dropped an additional step to where it reached the octave.

At first I thought it was weird, .but after a couple of weeks realized it was ridiculously brutal.

Of course I stay with the 6 mainly but its fun to mess around with the 7.

So usually drop A or that odd F tuning with 7's. Currently with my 6 its drop B flat and I like it. :)

I mean I dig it, it's definitely grown on me. And as long as you set up your amp properly, as well as your guitar, it won't sound like flub haha.

I use some standard and drop A but lately i've been dropping the E down to D and the Low B down to G...like a double drop tuning. It's different but i've came up with some cool riffs.

i actually tune mine like a standard guitar, but instead of the highest string or first string being High e it's F with a .006 gauge string, old steve vai trick =) , sometimes i'll tune the whole thing down a half step to ....
