I had one of these a while ago, but can't remember for the life of me what it sounded like. Great demo. Thanks.

Can you give any comparisons/contrasts to other popular pickups? did you find it to be fat, thin, bright, balanced, etc?

I replaced an Aldrich in my Strat about 2 years ago with one of these and haven't looked back. GREAT pickup for sure. Definitely a classic rock meets hard rock sort of vibe...

I think you might have this confused with the regular 59? This is the new hybrid with a coil from the 59 and a coil from the Custom.

I've been super interested in this new pup since seeing the ad here on RT.
Thinking of it for a HSS Strat....

Nope, they have been making hybrids for years on the SD forum. User BachtoRock started the trend.

Mine has an A2 magnet so it's technically a CC/'59 hybrid

Oh sorry I thought you meant a production SD pickup, yes apparently that's where they got the idea from their forums very cool

Yeah my Suhr S4 in the demo is HSS and I wanted to replace the high output SSH+ with something a little more vintage sounding to suit the style of guitar, I already have my Modern for metal and shred. It seems to be a perfect fit the SSH+ was top bright for this particular guitar. Vids coming soon

where can you get these things? are they priced comparably to the standard pups or are they more "custom shop" priced?

You can do it yourself if you are knowledgible about pickups, check out the Duncan forum for details. Like Amplifire said, they have been doing it for years over on SD forum, and some of the hybrids are truly amazing.

Also, there are guys that build hybrids for fun (BachtoRock, etc), that could probably be persuaded to make you one for a small fee, or you can get the SD Custom Shop to do it for a bigger price for brand new components......

Really considering putting one in my LP. I was sold on an Anderson H2+ but this sounds really good!

This pickup is available from Seymour Duncan not sure of the price do a search I'm sure it's the same as their regular pickups though, mine is a production floor custom because I wanted chrome cover instead of the black pickup.

that sounded great.

that suhr sounded really fat.

what pickup are you matching it with for the neck position?

I have a Suhr FL (now called ML) in the neck position I've never changed it because I think it sounds really nice but not saying I won't be tempted to experiment at some point :)

These are good pickups. I have been making them for years too.

Sounds great but to be honest after hearing that I now have gas for the El Capistan delay, I'm tired of changing out pickups! But wow those delays sound crazy good

I just ordered one for my American Standard strat. How did you get it to fit? My stock Fender Diamondback pickup has three screw holes on the bass side to accommodate the Strat mounting. ?????

This quick demo shows the humbucker using the volume control on my Suhr S4 loaded with the Seymour Duncan 59/Custom Hybrid in the bridge to control the gain. I plugged direct into my Ceriatone Chupacabra in 80's mode with a Strymon El Capistan in the effects loop.
