I posted this in another forum about a month ago and I thought I would share it here. It might benefit everyone a but by cutting costs on smaller items such as pedals, multiple pickups etc.

Alrighty everyone...lately I've seen a lot of pedals roll in from forums members all over the place with really high shipping rates.

I'm going to keep this short and simple.

Take your existing packaging that you send out and put it into a flat rate padded envelope. At the most it will be $5.95. Its even cheaper if you pay for your postage online.

Remember...its their motto...if it fits it ships. Stuff it with even more bubble around your box if you want to.

Just remember...

Keep in mind that you can have these delivered to your house at no change from usps.com

Also,

Dont lose your insurance labels. I just shipped a guitar to a buddy, and in the process of moving to my new apartment I lost my label and receipt. I have no way of tracking the item and if its lost, Im out of $900.

Thanks a bunch for this!

I've seen the envelopes (while I was in there picking up $12 flat rate boxes) and never even considered this.

What shipping method did they use to generate a $9.95 and $11.25 price tag??? Are those Priority Mail Small Boxes or are they Priority Mail Regional Rate boxes?

I think they are just their own boxes shipped via priority mail. They were both heavier pedals.

Snap a quick picture on your phone of the tracking number right when you it as a backup.

This is a really useful thread so I'm bumping it up.

Shipped a pedal out today going from Wisconsin to Florida. Packed the pedal in its box, wrapped the box in bubble wrap, and put it in the Priority Flat Rate Padded Envelope. Total cost was $6.10. Would have cost at least $12 with any other method.

Thanks again for the tip, slaveunit!
