Tasty SLO-Greenback tone! I love his clips. Surprisingly, Todd's SLO clips are some of the only good sounding ones I can find. For being one of the best amps ever, you'd think there would be a ton of great clips like this one..

Todd's a BEAST! Monster chops and killer tone. You should hear him live

I love that guy's YT clips. Always gets tasty tone and huge riffs all in one conveient package.

My word that sounds fantastic. SLO is an amp I never thought I would like, then I hear things like that!

I believe I did once at the MN state fair? Used to live right by the fairgrounds and I'm pretty sure he was rocking it there one year.

One day I hit a bunch of shops and tried a ton of amps including some Bogners, a Cornford and the SLO. At first I was honestly a little disappointed with it. Seemed "cold" and buzzy, but I played around with it for a bit and turned it up (after getting the shop's approval;) and it RIPPED! It just has that certain refined gain structure and a thickness to it that I've never heard from another amp. Very unique! I can't see there being a much better amp for loud hard rock. Where most amps thin out a bit at really blazing levels, the SLO gets huge!

a lot of the sounds that he gets is due to being tuned down a 1/2 step, and light touch combined with pick attack.

in other words

its all in the hands.

just like any amplifier or rig, two people can sound completely different.

Agreed.. that guy always has killer clips though ..once again goes to show that tone can be in the hands and that we all like a certain tone and will dial in just about any amp we play close to those settings and sell the ones that don't do it. In that clip it kind of sounds like a BE! I remember the high gain shootout Lugo clips.. the Lynch Soldano really didn't sound that great at all. It sounded fizzy and mushy with a woofy low end. So yeah, F-M-W . This one sounds terrific though.

Not to take away from the amp BUT..I hear a LOT of the character of the cab in that clip. I had an old 4x12 like that and no matter what amp I played on it, they all had a similiar sweet vibe to them.

Sorry I'm late to the party. And thanks for the comps guys! Yea those old Marshall cabs do sound great with everything thru em. I've been trying to find the best cab for my CCV. I have 5 cabs and that doesn't seem to be enough!

What speakers in those cabs? You still using V30's and 65's in a X pattern?

Those old Marshall cabs have the prerola celestions in em. One has 25s the other has the 30s. My Mesa cabs still have the 65 and v30 combo.

Both very cool clips. Great chops. Preferred the SLO over the Cameron but thats nitpicking really. Just sounded bigger and a bit spongier maybe?

What year are the cabs? Also, any Bogner clips for comparison? or PT 100. Always wanted to hear one guitar, one cab and a rotation of the SLO, Bogner XTC and PT 100. Would be a cool amp test.

Don't think I found the best cab for the CCV yet. They are my 2 fave amps ( the CCV and the SLO) The other amps I have owned at one time but not currently.

'Supersonic' has clips comparing the SLO, XTC 100b and Friedman Marsha among others. No PT100 though.
