I have had a couple of requests to do a heavier tune. My metal chops are completely out of whack but thought I would give a quick clip of a modded Marshall type profile that I thought fit the spirit of the original tone from Ride the Lightning. I know it isn't exact but I liked how it sounded.

Sorry for all the Kemper clips as of late but thought I would share. I thought for direct it worked well. I used a very small amount of reverb for a room effect.

Thoughts?

I used a Dirty Shirley amp with a tube screamer in front (0 on drive and set flat on the volume).

I've heard many of your clips & you're a fantastic player. But this tone I found very wimpy. Too laid back for convincing metal tone IMO.

I somewhat agree which makes me nervous cause I'm on the Kemper wait list. Playing was great as always!

Sounds good, but that Lightning tone needs scooped more, and probably with a parametric eq. That is if you are trying to nail the tone.

Don't worry about it being wimpy. There are tons of profiles that are much more aggressive, I just happened to like this one and gave it a shot. Part of the "lack" of what you might be hearing is my poor metal chops. Over the past couple of years I just don't play this stuff very convincingly any more. I am sure I can find a profile more to your liking without issue. I wasn't trying to go for the original tone but thought it fit really well for my liking. This was bypassing all of the EQ options on the Kemper.

Thanks dude! This profile was one from a Dirty Shirley which inherently is probably not the most accurate and aggressive Marshall type amp for this kind of tone or tune. I was playing around with it and thought it sounded cool. I think a boost in front would have really helped the tone get closer to the aggression of the original.

People need to rememeber, this has NOTHING to do with the kemper... What you put in, is what you WILL get out.... Gotta change your mindset with this thing vs "real" amps... If something sounds off or wimpy or whatever, it's probably not the kempers fault, know what I mean? I think this is very important for people to remember. If you profile a wimpy sound, you will get a wimpy sound through the KPA. If you profile the heaviest sound on the planet, this as well will be heard through the KPA.
