To me this is one of the greatest works of all time. Anybody else find this to be a great effort that really never got noticed? If you haven't listened to it check it out. Harry Cody in fine form and Skold is Skold all I can say.

It was my least favorite of their 3 albums, but that could be because it was so different from the others. I'll give it another listen with a more open mind.

I thought there where a few cool riffs like Jihad but for the most part I thought Second Coming was much much better

I fuckin' love this album. Very underrated IMO. I thought they successfully married the industrial electronic sounds with metal, this was a new thing at the time. Harry K Cody changed his style of playing for this record, he didn't do anymore of the Vai-shred thing anymore, that was on the first record.
This one had more angst and aggression than their first two, and he played with more riff based stuff than virtuosic metal solos.

Me too, one of me all time fave albums, love every song and every riff on it !!

Don't get me wrong I thought Second Coming was killer but VNB as posted was a new direction. Not many bands change direction so drastically and get better or at least put out something so damn good. I saw them on the Second Coming tour and holy shit!!!! Harry Cody - Les Paul - 5150 and wow it just killed. Great little club too so I was real close. They were on the night I saw them. Wish Harry was still playing stuff like he did back then....

I like VNB...was completely different, that is for sure for that time frame. Second Coming was the best thing Motley Crue never recorded. Cody is brilliant on that album. One of the very few CD's from that era I still listen.

I agree it was brilliant because I thought it escaped from the La hair Metal .
The songs were really strong and even though Tim Skolds vocals were not on par with many, the song and arrangement choices fit him great ,and his punk attitude.

But Yeah star of the show Coady for sure ,Going from really in your face stuff like Sex Drugs RNR ,to the more laid back stuff like Free, Pop Funk ,Metal he did it all on that record

Love me some Shotgun Messiah!!! My band actually did a cover of a SM tune semi recently.

And to the OP, Hope all is well man! Still rockin the Strat, actually just got from playing it at practice...love it!

Wasn't in to any of their other stuff just Violent New Breed

I have loved that album since it came out. I still listen to it regularly

Great cd! I also still listen to it. In the past 2 years I've brought it back into regular rotation.

BTW, they are "back" together (original singer back, Tim Skold not) touring as "Shotgun" and doing the material from the first album. The bad news is that Harry Cody isn't with them. The good news is that Rob Marcello is and nails Harry's playing while taking the shred element to the next level.

Robert Marcello is good, but would've been better if it was his brother, Kee
I checked out their performance of "Bop City" on UTube, the vocals were actually really good. Harry may have been retired from the music business for good, he's totally off the radar now.

Maybe there is hope... Wikipedia - Recently, Cody has been collaborating with Tom Waits and appearing on his most recent albums Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers & Bastards and Real Gone performing guitar and banjo.

I dialed up all three albums prior to posting, along with the I Want More EP, and while I like VNB. Second Coming is still my favorite. Their first album had that SHOTGUM MESSIAH stencil enclosed, it was all over my Mead binders. lol

I used to have Violent New Breed and Second Coming. They are both out of print. Anyone able to send me copies? Second Coming is $75 on Ebay
