Should I be concerned about rust in my Einstein chassis?

Upon opening up this used Einstein I noticed Rust in the seams on both sides of the chassis otherwise the amp looks like new. What do you guys think? You can click on the pic to enlarge it to see better. Does this happen in shipping? I see no external signs of poor storage.

Doesn't look that bad but I see your concern especially since your spending a good amount of money on it. Looks light enough that it could be removed. But I guess wait to see what Peter says about it.

Sorry Peter is this normal or am i being picky? I have zero experience with Diezel amps and what to expect, there are no dealers in Washington that have them and I know no one who has had one to get any reflections as to what is and isn't normal new or used.

It's in all of the seams. Best pic I could get of it. By the way Peter this was used.

Does the amp still function properly? If so don't worry about it man.

Works fine just trying to justify the value, but I'm probably getting a new VH4. It's hard giving up the extra cash ya know. One of those you cant see it but you know i'ts there things.

Man. There is no issue. It doesn't effect the value or the function of the amp. It's just some metal that has oxidized a bit. If it bothers you that bad scrape it off... I seriously don't understand the problem. You're in the northwest you should be used to things rusting more quickly. If you want pristine buy new and take care of it yourself... Diezels last forever. They're among the highest quality amplifiers on this planet... Don't fret over small stuff. It adds character. I've never seen one rusted and I've seen the insides of many Diezels so I don't think it's common, but if I did it wouldn't matter. I would think no less of the amp or the company.

Thanks for the talk down from the ledge, but I'm still heavily leaning toward getting a new VH4. If that doesn't work out I'll sick with the used Einstein. :)

It could be that the chassis (or the metal that formed it) sat for a little while or got moist during transport to the Diezel shop, and that's where the oxidation formed. I wouldn't even consider it detrimental to the resale value, if I were you. I would bet the oxidation occured before electronic components were fitted.

Sorry for my rude answer but this rust comes
from the welting material and is no issue.
Please no concerns.

Of course we have better material now and
it will not happen again. I know customers
are picky when they pay a lot of money.

Cheers,
Peter

don't be sorry, peter...
this complaining is getting ridiculous. it's been a long time in here since customers had a real problem with one of your amps apart from broken tubes.

I'm sorry. I wasn't trying to talk down to you. In my personal opinion it's the best amp in the world and I was frustrated that anyone would miss an opportunity to own one over something trivial. I understand paying a premium breeds scrutiny. Peter takes good care of his customers and Diezel has as far as I'm concerned the best customer support of any amp company around. I say go for the VH4 and I'm sure you'll be very pleased with your new amp. If you love Einstein you'll seriously love VH4. It plain rocks.

Well in this case, the op only wanted to make sure everything was ok after he just bought it used. Dont forget, these amps have a reputation for being "Godlike". So people are gonna question the slightest little thing. If it was a Boogie or a Marshall it prolly would have not even been a thought   . All of this is a good thing though. Unrealistic or course, but a good thing.

Thank you all for the replies.

Peter I certainly didn't mean to imply any lack of quality on Diezels part, and I apologize if it sounded like an attack against the Diezel products.

I have done a lot of research regarding the Diezel amps and am plenty aware of the build quality, tone, and faithful following from it's users, which has me gassing for a VH4.

I assumed it happened after the original owner had it. I just wanted to make sure the rust wouldn't progress.

Phil articulated my concerns perfectly. Thanks Phil.

Best wishes to all.

I'm sorry. I wasn't trying to talk down to you.

I know you weren't talking down to me I was saying thank you for convincing me that it was OK. :)

No Problem. I didnt take your concern as a complaint as much as well, a concern. There are a lot of guys who do bitch about the smallest little shits so it does get a bit annoying. Fwiw I bought my Einstein used and I wouldnt trade it for any other Diezel amp!

How does channel 3 on a VH4 sound compared to the Einstein lead channel? Assuming you have tried it.
