Should I trade my cabinet for a new one?

I have a mode four cabinet loaded with g12k-100's...it is a slant cab.

However, I found a straight Vader cabinet with the custom eminence speakers loaded in it. The cab will be used for live...not recording. Just jamming with friends and such that I like to play with regularly.

Should I do this trade?

no.

mode four cabs = awesome, unless you don't like the "oversized" sound.
K100 = hottest flavor of the week speaker in a long while.

vader cab = IDK, are those MDF or ply?
custom eminence = maybe okay? are they as nice as the P-50? or is it just a rebadged legend V12?

Unless you can specifically state what you don't like about (any piece of gear, really) and why the trade will work better for you, then you shouldn't do it.

^^^^^^^

This should be carved into stone, NOW.

id say do it. the vader is high quality handmade construction, and the legends in there were made specifically for the cabinet. straight cabs are better than slant cabs. it looks cool.
my .02

No way, the Vaders always sounded like poo to me and that mode four is a pretty damn good cabinet .

Trade a cabinet for another? Fuck that! Just buy the Vader and keep the MF.

Now THAT is the rig-talk spirit!

I liked the Vader 2x12s I owned, but unless you recognize a need to change your tone or if you are worried about tolex wear on the MF, I wouldn't trade. Both cabinets are good for the modern metal thing and you are probably going to like the Celestions more anyway.

They're internally framed 3/4" birch ply coated in what is basically Rhino truck bed liner, and the Eminence is a custom Legend variant as opposed to just being rebadged. I haven't tried one, but they're supposedly similar to the modeling speaker Eminence used to sell.

If it's local try it and see if you like it better and go with the cab you prefer. Your ears are a better judge of what you like than anybody on a forum. What kind of music do you play? Vaders seem to have become the cab of choice for a lot of extreme and death metal bands.

I personally hated the MF cabinet. I heard Sacha of Divinity playing his Vader cabs and they sounded amazing. I don't like boomy, BTW. Oversized isn't what I like with my playing style.

+1 to all of this, the Q is exactly what i was going to ask as well

I owned both cabs. The Vader is very stale and dark, almost zero speaker breakup. The Legends in it are not good to my ears, the breakup thing bothers me. The G12K100 is a way better sounding speaker. Wiring was shit job on my Vader as well.

I know this cab is local, so I would suggest trying it out. Dave is an awesome dude, and as a matter of fact, I was in your position last week. I was curious to see if the Vader was better for my rig than the Mesa, and I'm glad I did because my Mesa slaughtered it in pretty much every aspect. Tone is subjective, everyone's ears are different, and I've never played a Mode 4 cab, so I can't really tell you how it compares to the Vader. Just A/B it with your rig, and let us know how it works out!
