Anyone tried it yet?
I stumpled across it.
Now i'm curious and i'm watching some Clips as i type.

Shure marketing plan: bump the price to 2.5x current dynamics by temporarily producing demo units in the US, try to get some favorable press after years of releasing shit sounding Chinese mics no one can pretend to like even for ad money, then move production to China while keeping price unchanged.

Are they all Made in China now?

They have production capability in the US (small amounts), Mexico, and China. The 57/58 moved to China from Mexico a while back.

For first-world manufactured dynamics to stick in front of a guitar cab, if you want hype the e906 and M88 (TG) are nice and I can usually find a position that sounds like a dry version of what I hear in the room. RE-20 for no hype. For mega-hype I'd probably buy an old US-made Unidyne III - it's not like they wear out. Or an old MD421.

I went and looked it up and I'm pretty sure we can rule out this being anything other than crazy hyped :D 11dB narrow and centered at 6khz - geez.

In comparison a Unidyne III 545SD is quite chill. And that's the most hyped mic I would consider for guitar close micing.

Ok, thanks.
Where's the RE-20 made?

Tried it, not into it
Same here :) I don't really like the highs of the MD421.
I did some more research Yesterday, but didn't go too deep in the Microphone Rabbit Hole. I somewhat have already been there.
So i thought "why not use one of the Mics you kept?" And today i tried out my D112 together with my SM57.

EV in the USA I believe.
They went up in Price signifcantly. 659.-€ The M160 is 798.-€ now. I've been interested in them before.
I tried and had a few Mics over the years, but i sold them except for one 57, D112 and a 58. I tried the D112 together with the 57 today.

If you're in Europe and need guitar micing the e906 probably has to be reasonable. I don't really love the RE-20 on guitar except in specific cases where you want a fairly flat top end and no proximity effect. I wouldn't pay money, especially that much, for one unheard. It's more useful for bass, horns, brass, etc.

I already had the usual suspects. ;)
