Oh boy, here I go with the GAS attack agian.

I think there's going to be a lot of GAS for this amp once it's out there. I was floored by the sheer versatility of the amp and when I say versatility, I mean from clean to mean, every tone was strong.

...must keep telling myself, "no need for cleans, no need for cleans"...

Amp of the week...etc.

What's it like compared to the UL Bob? Do you know what the street price is going to be? Does it have the KT88/6550 power section? Do tell!

It's very different from the UL. The amp of course has that VHT fingerprint, however, it can be dialed in with a lot more "saturation" than the UL and I think overall, it's going to be less intimidating to play for guys that think the UL is too dry, stiff, etc. I believe MAP is somewhere in the low $2k area and street will probably be somewhere under $2k. It has two KT88's.

So it doesn't replace the UL by any means eh? Other than more saturation is there anything it can do that the UL can't? Sorry 'bout all the dumb ??'s.

out of curiousity .
what was the weight of the head .

and did you see the footswitch . what options are switchable?

Did you buy one Bob, or just find one to try out?

Any versions of it going to have EL34's?

It's a different beast for sure. I think they're different enough that a person could own both and not feel like there's too much redundancy.

I didn't pick it up but it looked like it weighed somewhere between 7 and 50 lbs.

I may be forgetting some things, but the foot switch changes between the 3 channels, has a boost and a loop.

I played what I believe is the final prototype. There's only a KT88 model.

I hope one of the Seattle music stores around here gets one of these in stock. Very interested in seeing if it will work for me.

I wish I could answer these questions for you, however, I didn't pay enough attention to each mode to really comment on them. Various players would do some wanking and Steve F was tweaking the amp as we played. My guess on the modes, however, is that they're variations on the voicing, which I guess you could say changes the EQ range. One thing that I was really impressed with is the difference between the 1/2 and full power modes. I preferred the amp in full power, but in 1/2 power you can really hear the amp working in a good way.

Would you say its more like the Deliverance/UL- it's own thing tone wise? Did it look like the photos off the web, anything new on it, maybe on the back? I know how demo's go, more than you can take in. Need to mess with it to see what does what. With that many options it would be hard to keep track. Thanx :)

Interesting, I'm sure VHT will sell a lot of those. It looks like a killer amp.
