what do I need?!?!?!?

simple setup...amp, two cabs...I have a 2x12 and a 4x12..I'm assuming this doesn't really matter...my 2x12 goes pretty much unused so I figured I'd use that as the wet side and my 4x12 for the dry side...

I'd just be using a delay of some sort for effects (my DD-20 most likely..dig that pedal) and that would be all she wrote for now..I'm not gigging anymore so I don't care about lugging shit around...and if I were, my loop always worked fine at gigging volumes...so if I ever did gig again, I still wouldn't lug it around..lol

anywho, rather than dealing with changing loops and dicking with volume tricks and whatnot when I want some grease on my sound I figured I'd see what's involved in the W/D neck of the woods

if I'm not mistaken I need effects (duh) a direct box/dummy load of some sort (could probably use one of those behringer DI boxes..used them in my first band when we were too lazy to mic up or where volume was an issue) and some sort of clean SS power amp, such as a cheapo carvin or something..

that be all?

and I have no idea how to connect all this shit

You need a box to get an isolated signal (like Suhr ISO box), an effects unit, a line mixer (if you want to mix wet and dry in the "wet" cab(s), a power amp. Of course you need at least 2 cabinets...one for dry and one for wet.

an ISO box..that the same thing as a direct (DI??) box? and the mixer is only if I want some of the original signal to go through that second cab...I can still do it without that as long as I'm happy with just effects coming through the second cab, right?

I ran a wet/dry with my quickrod and a couple splawn cabs and it was freakin awesome. I used a suhr iso box and a solid state power amp. It was like playing in 'high definition'

I gig alot though and I eventually sold all the rack gear and just built a simple pedal board, but I do miss that huge tone :(

You can get by fine with that Behringer Ultra G DI if you don't want to drop all of that dough on a Suhr Iso box just turn off the cabinet simulator switch. You can also mix the wet/dry signal in just about any effects unit whether rack or pedal and not have to use an outboard mixer. However, the Suhr box I'm sure does sound better and the outboard mixer will give you more control and is easier to tweak on the fly.

All you need is a hotplate, HK Redbox, something you can grab a lineout and feed it to another power amp. Return into another amp will work. Dial volume to taste.

mixing the wet dry signal with a pedal...that's basically saying that that's what the 'level' on my boss DD-20 is doing? It's functioning as a mix knob? or am I misunderstanding

yeah, I played through a similar setup at Scott's shop the last time he hosted a get together a couple years back..if you've seen the vid of me playing that pink BC rich, it was a wet dry rig...and it sounded fantastic for sure...

My cheap ass runs a line from the Efx out of whatever head, to a Behringer 30 watt combo with my Intellifex in the loop.... :scared: :D (amp set to tweed/full)

Ain't no real wet/dry rig like you big city folk, but I get the separation, and original amp tone... good enough for living room!

 :loco:

Any wet dry gurus able to help me on this one... (vaguely on topic)

I tried a wet-dry setup on the weekend, running the pre-amp out on my amp to a g-major into ss power-amp and out to a 2x12. Sounded amazing with a detune or chorus. So figured I would add some delay and reverb. When I did that my detune sound almost disappeared and the delay was very overwhelming.

I set the g-major up with killdry on, all effects mix at 100%...
