What was your "favorite" concert ?

I would have to go with a tie:

Anthrax, Exodus, and Celtic Frost back in the 80's (not sure the year) and.........

Pantera and Trouble in a small club in San Antonio around 1992 (may be wrong on the date)

The best recent concert (within 10 or so years) would be against the stage at Manowar and Immortal in front of about 50 people in a tiny club.........LOUD

G3 with Satch, Vai, and Petrucci on July 4th, 2001 up in Santa Fe.

Very close would be Satch on April 18th, 2000 (my birthday) and Vai's Evo Experience tour. Got to play FLO in the sit around after the show. I played the solo from "Goodbye to Romance" and my friend played around with "Hot for Teacher". It was awesome.

ive been to tons of metal concerts throughout the 90.ss however I think the best one I have ever been to was the recent Roger Waters show in May. Bad ass.

In no order............

Rush Signals around 1980ish
Van Halen LIve without a Net
DLR Eat'em and Smile
Cheap trick sometime around 1986ish
Van Halen Fair Warning.
Steve Vai's last tour had the uber meet and greet package. n Was great talking with Steve about tone while the wife the 80s head just stood there with her mouth open
Pink Floyd in Venece floating on the grand cannel 1994

Forgot the Tone Merchants 2007 NAMM show with ma boy Fast Eddie Degenero, Chris Nix, and Christopher Goldin....burned the joint down.

Ozzy with Randy Jan "82 gen admission and right up front!!

Recent.....Uli Roth last month in Pittsburgh whoa!

Ive been to loads of great ones over the years, I cant pick out any specifics. However, here are the 2 worst:

MSG: Michael was drunk off his ass and couldnt play a note.
G3: I went to the first UK G3 gig and it was dull as dishwater. Having seats probably didnt help though.

My most memorable were...

Roger Waters w/Eric Clapton on the Pros and Cons tour
Floyd Momentary tour
Any/All Rush shows
Queensryche Empire tour
Dream Theater w/Satriani summer of '02

AIC
Rolling Stones - 12th row right next to the catwalk that went into the audience
Radiohead
Pantera - the 1st time I saw them I was pretty floored
Sabbath - 1st Ozzfest tour...I know Bill Ward wasn't there, but it was the closest I got to seeing Sabbath
Sevendust -'97 at a bar that held maybe 200 people, that show made a huge impression on me
Black Crowes
STP in '94 and the '08

its to hard for me to pick a favorite, but bon jovi was definately the best show i have seen. amazing sound, stage, and most amazing assortment of hot 30somethings you will ever see in groups of ten

I haven't been to many concerts...but favourite is probably first time I saw Kings X at the Boardwalk here in town..,,maybe '98 or '99..that place is up close and personal and they always bring it. :thu:

Prior to that, probably Donington MOR 1988 - Maiden, Megadeth, Helloween, GnR, DLR...some waste of space called KISS :D

Killswitch Engage on their first tour. There was 7 people in the audience including me, and we brought the fucking pain that night. Who knew a circle pit with 7 people could be so fun.

Shabutie (Coheed and Cambria's old name). Another show with like 10 people in the audience. They were incredible. They had just started playing some of the soon-to-be Second Stage Turbine Blade songs, and it was just amazing.

My three most memorable:

1. Seeing SRV in a tiny club in Cleveland, just before he became famous. Tommy Shannon had all kinds of amp trouble and Stevie made up for it by playing several instrumentals, just walking around through the audience.

2. Motorhead in the same small club ~1982 or so. I was about 13 and really didn't think I would get out of there alive. My ears still hurt. If I remember right, Mercyful Fate opened up for them and I became enamored with Hank Sherman. For some reason, he just looked so cool because the entire band was into all the black stuff and he was off to the side wearing white pants and a white shirt -just looked cool.

3. Seeing DIO a few years ago with Doug Aldrich. It was just a very fun show, and being a relic from the '80's, the showmanship and accurate portrayal of the classic songs was something that took me back to my teen years.

Maiden, Powerslave - queensryche, rage for order- Floyd, momentary lapse of reason - Kings-X, Gretchen in a club that held less than 200 people, 3 ft. from Doug - Priest, electric eye, Metallica - Master of Puppets, RJ Dio- Holy Diver, Christopher Parkening Stand out, Have been to 219 shows and counting since 1974. Have all my stubs in a shoebox

A few come to mind...

The Ramones and Social Distortion in '91 - one word: iconic.
Pantera in '96 - they were fuckin' SAVAGE!
The Wildhearts in London - worth every penny.
Slobberbone - every single show.
The Sword earlier this year - heaviest show EVER!

I could go on forever...

#1-roger waters,..radio waves...incredible everything...!!!...before his voice broke..

#2-ozzy with randy rhodes on the blizzard of oz tour...nobody new who the hell the little dude on guitar was...but everyone was talking about him after!!...since it was his first solo album they did alot of the the old sabbath stuff..including national acrobat, thrill of it all, superstARZ...

#3-black sabbath on the heaven and hell tour,..they came out with a pissed off attitude and just killed!!...it was the loudest concert i have ever been to...and the first time i experienced the feeling of my organs getting disturbed from a subsonic blast of a c# tuning..

UFO - Walk on water tour with Michael Schenker - Schenker was on!!
Satriani - Flying In A Blue Dream tour

Van Halen - 1984
Rush - 2007 (2nd row on Lifeson side) My 9th Rush show
Stevie Ray Vaughan - 1985 ?
Joe Satriani - Flying in a Blue Dream tour
Bon Jovi - These Days tour. Had backstage passes since my friend did an internship with Heather Locklear's mother. She gave him the passes. Got to meet the band. The best part was that Steve Vai opened for them and we got to meet him backstage. That made the night!

It is hard to choose just one since I have been to over 50 shows. Too many to choose from.

Joe Satriani, Stevie Salas Color Code was the opening act.
Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix, 1988-ish.
2nd row, awesome show, Stu Hamm played bass.

That's a tough one. Megedeth-Peace Sells tour, Dio-Last in Line, Metallica w/Ozzy-MOP.
I've seen probably over 100 shows(and played quite a few) at the Alrosa Villa( where Dime was shot) A small club that brings some decent acts. A few that stick in my head are: Obituary w/Sacred Reich-1990, Krisiun-??, Testament 4 times.
Newport music Hall: Geezer,Tony,Bill with unknown singer around 1996w/Morbid Angel and Motorhead, Warren Haynes-1992. Slayer a few times.

The most recent great show and maybe my favorite was Heaven and Hell w/Priest this past August.
