Single sized bucker for my strat ?

I'm still scouring the web trying to decide which single sized bucker for my strat. All the choices are giving me a headache. I don't want anything over the top output wise, but still strong enough to play heavy rock. Something easy on the high end as well.

I've pretty much narrowed it down to the Duncan Lil 59' and the Dimarzio Air Norton S. Both are pretty equal in output, but just a bit different on the EQ curve. However, I don't put much stock in pickup EQ curves as it depends more on the guitar/amp, etc. IMO. Has anyone had the chance to play both of these ? Or is there something outside the Dimarzio/Duncan realm I should be looking at ?

I did not care for the regular Dimarzio Tone Zone but the S version is great at getting a fat humbucking tone out of the bridge of a strat. It is not as hot as a Duncan Hot Rails and it has a nice low mid punch with no high peaks. I am one of the few who really like the tone of the Hot Rails in some strats but it is a bitch to find middle and neck pickups that keep up with it and still have any glassy, strat quality.

I've never played the Air Norton S but I had the Lil 59 for a while. It was not as warm as I would have liked but it mixed really well with standard output neck and middle single coils. I was trying for the age old setup of a strat that sounded like an LP in the bridge and a strat in the neck and middle. My stat has a swimming pool route so I ended up with a real humbucker but I tried many singles at first.

Thanks for the info. I'm not a fan of the regular Tone Zone either, but I may have to check out the S version. I don't want to sacrifice the strat quality of position 2 (bridge and middle together) but I do want more "meat" from my bridge. Its a a perplexing decision to make:doh:

Ive had a lil '59 sitting in my closet for like a year. Was gonna use it for a project but I gotta save up money for college, so no new projects for me. In the spirit of christmas, PM your address and Ill send it to you.

I've got a Dimarzio Solo Pro in the bridge of my strat...it keeps a little bit of that single coil character but it much thicker and fatter. Sounds great in the in-between position too.

I thought it was a great comprimise between thickening the bridge tone and keeping (somewhat) the strat sound.
