How many of you normally run your SL2X with the Bass Boost in the "0" (middle) position? I'm just curious how many of you feel that the Bass in the "0" position is too thin, and how many of you don't. When chiming in, please tell me what guitar/pickups you're using to base your conclusions on . . . Thanks!

Hmmmm.

I'm pretty sure that I run my SL2X bass boost on 1, regardless of guitar. My guitars are Les Pauls with HBs, Les Pauls with P-90s, Strat, Tele, pretty much the standard palette.

The module seems just a tad thin on bottom end with no boost, although that's just my preference and the tone sounds very authentic with the boost on 0.

But I'll have another look when I get home to make sure.

It all depends on what you like and the rest of your rig. 50watt power, 100watt power, humbucker, single coil, ash, alder, Vintage 30, G12T, there's a gazillion combinations that can all add up to rig that's weak in the low-end, or one that'll knock you down with massive punch.

I've always felt that any of my modules through my RT2/50 power seem to lack the impact a 100 watter usually gives you. I wish Bruce would come out with a big VHT or Marshall 9200 type power amplifier.. Especially since he'd pretty much be the only company making one. With so many pro players using the M4, you'd think Bruce would want to take their power money as well.

I agree 100% with Klark on this, there are so many variables to factor.

It depends if your using a M4 with a 50 watt or 100 watt power amp. A MOD50 or a MOD100.

My 1st Egnater purchase was an M4 with a VHT 2502 power amp and always felt it was missing something. Currently I'm using a MOD100 with 2 Egnater/Mojo 4x12 cabs and it packs alot of punch so my settings might be worthless.

Anyways, mines set to "0"

Always to my right. Is that 1 or 2? I'm not in front of my amp.

FWIW - The two cabinets that I have used a SL2x:

Port City OS 2x12 Texas Heat/Governor, Grendel Dead Room MKIII scumback M75 100w

I just messed around a bit this evening with this very issue. Unforuntately, like a dumbass, I did three changes at once so I'll never know which did the most good..

1) Rewired my '73 Marshall slant (M75/H75) to what some are saying is the true series/parallel, meaning two sets of speakers each in series, then both sets in parallel at the jack.
2) Did the Bogner trick by adding some poly wadding to the inside back panel.
3) Upgraded from 20awg crap wire to 14awg fine stranded copper.

WOW, very nice improvment! The increase AND tightening of the low-end was immediately apparent, as well as a nice smoothing of the mids. It no longer sounds like an X pattern of different speakers, but rather a more cohesive/organic mix. Sorry for the cliche terms but it really did make an improvement worth sticking with. The really good thing is I'm now back to being happy with a 50watt poweramp again!

Thanks all . . . I was just trying to gauge whether the consensus was that the "0" position was too thin and thus not very usable. I'm tweaking the bass on my SL2X and I was just looking for confirmation on this, as the SL2X "0" position has 30% less bass than that of a stock SL2). Then again, I don't (CAN'T) play at very loud volumes, whether it's at rehearsal or gigs at small clubs. :D

I use the "0" position and it sounds great,M4/RT,2/50 loaded with 6550s to cab.
