So I've been wanting to set up a wet-dry rig with my recto head, a cheap peavey deltafex processor, a Rectifier 2:100 power amp(borrowing) and 2 8-ohm cabs. I've been holding off until I finally could borrow the power amp.

The recto manual states that the slave out jack can be used for a setup like this. I called Boogie just to get some advice on doing this right, and they said it CAN'T be done.
Dude I talked to said that the slave out is an output from the pre and power amp and would be way to hot of a signal to run into an effects processor and another power amp/cab :scared:

I thought this was the purpose for the slave out jack and level knob...?

I think you need to go out into a hotplate set for load first. I'm sure someone will be along shortly to give you the right answer

I think dude at Mesa doesn't know what he's talking about...

If what he's saying is true, the slave out is just another speaker jack

Call back and ask for Randall.

That should work... The slave out control isn't sending out speaker level or anything crazy

It's most likely a line level signal, which would be just fine for most modern rack FX units now!

hell if i know?

may want to call Boogie back and talk to Mike B.

Boogie runs a tight ship, and most of thier guys are pretty cool, but maybe you got to talk to a dipshit?

i've ran the slave outs on my Recto and Stiletto directly into the input of other heads with no problems before. so?

i'm like you, what the hell good is it can't be used like you're wanting to?

I'm not sure why that dude was so against me doing the W-D setup
Don't get me wrong, the Boogiemen have always been quick to help me with any problems. I'll try giving Mike B a call. Thanks!

You are trying to use it correctly. That is exactly what a slave out is for. I think you got someone at boogie that was a little confused.

You will need 3 cabs to do this. I would pickup a THD Hotplate to run between the Boogie and it's cab, take a line level out from the Hotplate to feed the FX processor-stereo power amp-L and R cabs.

You can still do W/D with just 2 cabs, but you don't get the full stereo signal like you would with 3 cabs. Still works great though, thats how i run my rig

Loaded down amp via hotplate like you suggested is very cool too, I like that method a lot personally! Some guys just like having the dry uneffected cab plus 100% wet cab which you get from W/D setup :)

From the Recto manual - no hot plate needed:

SLAVE LEVEL CONTROL : This 1/4" jack and control provide a signal derived from the speaker jack. Perfect for using
either the DUAL or TRIPLE RECTIFIER Solo Head as a master pre-amp, or additional power amps may be connected for
more power when needed. Some players use this to derive an FX Send Signal and go to other amps for their wet
sound.

Cheers Jerry!!

Yeah they played the tune 'Never Surrender' on the soundtrack for The Wraith! Also they did the original Transformers movie soundtrack too

I used the slave out on my MKIV to do this no problem. Slave out -> EFX -> Power Amp, Cabs + Amp Speaker out to Cab for dry. The guy you spoke to either misunderstood of did not know what he was talking about. You FOR SURE do not need a Hotplate in this configuration... as long as you are connecting a proper speaker cab to a speaker out for the dry signal...

Steve

Thanks for all your help guys  I called Mike B at Boogie and he was really helpful and very nice to talk to :) He said everything would work as I explained. I'm gonna try it this weekend when I have the house to myself so I can really crank it up!
