trying nail down, or who am i kidding...even to get close to some solo parts i need some help getting the parts at times...do you guys use slow downer or something similar?

I use FOOBAR 2000 Its a free Audio app and you can load plugins that slowdown music or change pitch. I use if I am playing along to a tune with guitars 1/2 step down and I am in standard. IT can raise it to standard very usefull. It also can drop. YOu can also slow down or speed up . Works well

If it's on YouTube, you can slow it down in settings.

that is perfect!

thank you kindly.

YouTube is cool for being able to adjust the speed and the pitch stays the same. The Slow Downer has a looping platform which is a great tool for learning without having to result to reaching up and queuing a starting point. Has the EQ option and pitch control. I've had it for years. I lost my hard drive once and was able to reload it on a new hard drive from the original email purchase. It's much easier and quicker than u tube for certain things. Of course I cant just slow it down listen once and re play it , especially speed licks. Ymmv

I’ve used the Amazing Slow Downer for a long time. It works perfectly.

I even got it for my iPhone.

Hmmm....yea the start and stopping...good point.

Thanks for the thought provoking commentary fellows

I use Transcribe! . If you learn a lot of covers it's fucking awesome. You can slow stuff down and it still stays in pitch. Change the pitch of a song. That comes in handy if you need to change the key the song is in. Really it has all kinds of tools for learning songs. Here's a link: https://www.seventhstring.com/xscribe/overview.html

You can do this in Reaper pretty easy. I used to use RiffStation but I dont think its available anymore.
