I am ready to buy the Small Box 50 Watt 1x12 Combo. Would anyone who owns this amp give me their insight and experience. I have listened to Dave Weiner's video on the Small Box 50 head and cab and wonder how similar the feel and sound of the combo 1x12 will be? My best gigging option is a small portable amp that can fit in my car and work well in smaller venues. We are using in-ear and fully mic'd so the head/cab is just too big and heavy. The band is a mix of our original music and arrangements of songs we love ranging from Tull to Bonamassa to Gary Clark Jr to Matt Schofield to Steely Dan. I will be using reverb, delay, chorus, trem, and boost either thru the effects loop or in front. Guitars Strat with Dovers and Gibson SG Lehe switching
Thanks for any info

I switched from a head to the combo. I couldn't be happier.

The combo is a little more airy, but with ears, you're hearing the speaker close mic'd. The Creamback it comes with gives it plenty of low end which I found quite pleasing considering it's a combo.

I don't have a bad thing to say about the Small Box combo. It ended all my transportation issues and sounds every bit as good as the Small Box Head/Cabinet.

thanks for the response- I really have no doubt that it is the amp for me...especially what I am hearing you say. Once you hit 63 you can't pick-up stuff you once did!

I also switched my SB head into the 1x12 combo. I love the portability, it definitely makes life easier!! I can still play it into my other cabs, if I want to load up a 2x12 or 4x12...very happy with it

I just ordered a combo. It´s time to downsize right now (going from a Fargen DBC Head + a Bogner 212C to a Smallbox combo)! I believe it´s the right move for me. I usually don´t gig, but I want to be able to grab my combo and take it to a friend´s house and have a good time playing my guitar. The SB combo weights just perfect 52 lbs (my Bogner 212C weights 79 lbs and my head 37 lbs). And let´s not forget about the guitar and pedalboard. It´s insane to carry a gear this heavy. I want to make it easier, but still be able to rock!
