So, I've had the Small Box for over a year now. I had the head originally, but recently switched it over to a combo since I run in-ears. I don't need the 4x12 anymore, nor the back pain. It comes with a Celestion Creamback H75 and it's just a fantastic sounding speaker. Fits this combo perfectly. The combo is more airy than the 4x12 but I don't miss the 4x12 with this combo. Call me crazy...

This amp does it all for me. The plexi channel I run the gain dimed. If I need cleans, they are there by just rolling down the guitar volume. Seriously, just a great sounding plexi and does everything a plexi does. The BE channel I usually run the gain around 3 o'clock sometimes a little lower. If you turn it down around noon and start rolling up the gain...you can feel and hear right where things get going and that's where I leave it. Between those two channels and my guitar volume...anything is possible. In my application anyway...if you want the brootz, you'll need to goose the front end. They're reactive, dynamic, and have THAT feel with them I really have grown to appreciate. I play mostly covers and we do everything from Modern Country to Pop to Classic Rock to Heavy Alternative. I have no issues getting the tones to cover all that.

I can't say enough about this amp, particularly in the combo form. The amp gives the goods, is voiced wonderfully, and offers everything I need. I don't run a boost or OD in front, because I personally don't need too. I can see the plus of doing this and might give it go in the future. Even more tones in an already tonally packed package.

Life is good. Thank you Dave.

I am still in the honeymoon phase with my Smallbox head and I agree with you on the amp's versatility and tone. I keep the gain cranked on the Plexi channel and anywhere from two o'clock to max on the BE channel. I have a couple overdrive pedals I use for boosting here and there. I have my EQ settings all below noon and I am liking the sound even better. I LOVE the Smallbox and it is a blast to play. Check out some of the tones and settings in this Friedman Marsha video. I can easily get in the same ballpark when using similar settings.

Agree 100%! I always refer to it as a Swiss army knife of an amp. I love the voicing of it, and all of the little features that make it what it is. It is dead quiet, has a sweet effects loop, and the best master in the business. The plexi channel cleans are great!

The Smallbox is really hard to beat. I just used it live for the first time over the weekend and it sounded soooooooooooooo good!

I was just playing my Smallbox tonight and it is a MONSTER!!! I was boosting it for somethings with a new reissue DOD250 pedal. This amp is off the chart cool.
