which pedal is best for converting the smallbox into HBE gain territory? is it a tubescreamer like pedal or just a clean boost? Right now I have best results with the amp11, but I think it can be better...every amp sounds different with the same pedal...

Any thoughts on a Suhr Koko Boost ??

Just curious how this would work.

Koko sounds great on both channels. I'll try a tube screamer tomorrow just got the amp today and only had half hour or so to open it up. First impression I'm blown away. This is also my first Friedman.

I also have the kook boost, but didn't like it on the smallbox. I think the sound without pedal is much better, the koko makes the mids a bit weak...

that's strange koko boost is one of the best boosters out there, you have the old model or the reloaded?

try the maxon OD9

+1 i use to run this with the BE channel of my be100. really i cant think of anything better.

Own a friedman the BE-100, For boost besides a Suhr koko boost an Aldrich Rocket Fuel, Empress ParaEq can be used both in front of the amp or FX Loop, all with great results..

+ EP Booster
I run mine in "vintage" mode and 18v - very nice!

This^^!
Just about anything will do . This amp loves pedals.

Bondi sick as overdrive. It is one of the few overdrives I've used that does not seem like it is overloading the front end of the amp. Just sweet fatness and compression.

actually, I do not have very good results with either OD pedal. The sound becomes "stuttering" and "blocky", not a smooth sound but it gets really nasty....and I tried like 25 pedals with the same results on the gain and the clean channel...very frustrating.

Something must be wrong with the amp then.
You should be able to use just about any pedal with the SB
Especially the first channel, every and I mean every pedal I ve
used with proper EQ adjustments melts with the amp.

I would be happy to look at the amp for you. Your description does not sound like anything I have ever heard.

dave, I have send you a iphone video of a timmy into the first channel by email...

HI, Regarding getting the second channel on the Smallbox to the high-gain territory of the HBE channel on the BE-100.
Would like to hear Dave's thoughts on this.

Did he comment on this here or elsewhere?
