So About The Proco Rat......?

OK, I have done the chip-swapping thing and although my access to vintage RAT's have been limited, I walked away thinking the newer ones were just as good and a little less noisy. Nevertheless, every time someone mentions the RAT, some authority comes along and bashes the chip or something. I suppose the difference to me was as negligible as the difference between the Klon KTR and silver or gold Centaurs... which has not been significant enough to compel me to spend the extra $$ for one. However, I'm open-minded and willing to learn, so please someone shed some light here on the Proco RAT. Then, I would like to know if someone makes a RAT better than Proco and less noisy.

I have a original Rat here from the 80's and a Vintage from the 90's with the two chips. I prefer the one from the 90's.
