So, Creamback 65 won't do metal, eh? My Deliverance & 65's

I have seen it stated the G12m-65 "doesn't do metal'. Most recently when inquiring about Diezel's. Anyway, sold my D60 yesterday and made a quick vid for the buyer showing all amp functions working properly. I ran it through my Splawn 2x12 loaded with Creamback 65's and played some... METAL! LOL!

I think these guys sound great with the Fryette... and the Friedman Butterslax... and the Splawn (naturally)

Since you've owned an Avenger before what speakers would you recommend to go with it? I'm currently using Heritage G12H30's.

The only cabs I had were my Madison oversized 4x12's (Same spec as Mesa oversized recto cab). They were loaded with the V30/75's in an X-pattern and sounded GREAT! I think I have a recording of that but it was way long ago when I first started recording. Let me see if I can find it.

EDIT:
Certainly doesn't do the amp justice but here is a clip of it dual mic'd with a57/609. I don't normally use a ton of gain.

Awesome video.

I have always thought the 75's sounded better and were more geared towards metal from most of the clips I have heard but this is the second clip I have heard that makes me think the 65's are good too.

I had some 65's, they farted with my dual rec. went to 75's and it was much tighter.

I hear that about the 75's and I really dug Tom P (Gsxbxr or however it's spelled) vids with his 75's. I just hear a lot of chatter on the 65's not being able to do metal which has not been the case for me.

Hmmm... I had a 3 Channel DR for about a month while I was waiting on the Quick Rod but still had my 2x12's used here. It held up ok but I don;t dial stuff in super bass heavy. Maybe that had something to do with it?

Certainly not discounting your experience. I am interested to try the 75's. I kind of want to swap 2 of my 65's for something. I don't need two of the same cabs with the same speakers...

I've had both creams, and I honestly like the Chinese greenbacks best for metal after having my new greenback cab for a few weeks. Like them even more mixed with v30's

Any vids shoeing the Slax and that cab? I haven't ever actually used a Greenback.

I don't have any experience with the 65's but my old d60 sounded good with every speaker I threw it on, and will definitely do some broots with a boost. That thing didn't last long for sale eh?

I would like to know too man, I don't want to shell out for the Butterslax cab, $2100 in Canada, I wonder how a couple mixed with v30s would sound in my Mesa trad

If someone says a particular speaker "won't do metal", it makes me automatically doubt anything else they say.

Well if you throw the big dog 412/15 in the mix, nothing compares to it, NOTHING.

The greenies and v30's are a close second though.

Here's an iPhone vid. JerEvil, I will have your recording setup one day ;) but for now I hope this gives an idea, its loud, you can see it shaking my phone on the floor hahah

V30 cab on right, greenback cab on left

This Is just my opinion, but I didn't like the Mesa cabs with anything Marshall, I like a little "woody" ness (if that's a word) to the tone for marshally stuff, I mean high gain metal also. Bogner and Friedman cabs give me that, the mesa's sound good with mesa's but were too directional and less 3D with my other amps. Don't hate me, just my opinion for what it's worth.

-do the 15" FULLBACK'S kick some ass or what!! I have an old pine FENDER BASSMAN cab that I made into a 2x12-by-1x15 cab-(1-15" FULLBACK & 2-12" GREENBACK's)-that is just all kinds of awesomeness!! Sounds killah with any amp I through on top of it, I'm giving serious consideration to building a 4x15 cab-(like the old MARSHALL 4X15 GREENBACK bass cab-(check out Johan's you-tube clips)-I've even got a spare!!

Ok that sounds crushing, a little brighter than your full cab maybe? You might have me convinced to go with the Friedman 412 greens/v30s

The "won't do metal argument" always does in fact start an argument.

I don't even know what metal is...but i would suck you off...

Nope, the big cab sounds brighter now too, and even more crushing. I changed and took some stuff out of my chain, made a nice difference. Nice eye opener for me. The 412/15 sounds stupid good now.

My (2) avatar cabs are More than the Friedman 4x12. They sound bigger too cause it's two oversized, dovetail, 2x12's, with each speaker type in its own box, causing a wider soundscape because its two boxes.
