So... Got a hold of an Axe FX

GrooveHT was kind enough to send me his old gen 1 Axe FX Standard to mess with. Yes I know the Gen 2 is a lot better and comparing it to my Kemper is not exactly a fair comparison but either way, here are my initial impressions:

It's really nice. Some stuff is a bit better than the kemper... other stuff not as good as the kemper. Different approach to tone than the KPA, but equally as effective.

So ask away.

AxeFx Gen 1 units rock out. They can be a pain to dial but they are great preamp and FX units. See the old thread here called 'AxeFx Insanity' for some serious <hearting> during its run as the RT new gear hotness. Some pretty influential members spread the love.

I have the II but am thankful I kept the 1 as a preamp+cab rig.

It's pretty darn cool. The workflow and routing is cool it's pretty different approach from my KPA.

Is there really a lot of difference between the 1 and the II as far as using it with a poweramp and cabs ? You're not the first person I've heard this from...I have a II.
