Cool review.

IMO every guitar should be scalloped from at least fret 17 to 21/22/24. The feeling is incredible.

Here's my YJM's. the Blonde maple neck is a 2000, i removed the mint green pickguard with a classic whiet. the rosewood is the newer version 2007, but i wanted to get a Olympic white w/rosewood vibe, so thats a 60's Custom Shop Relic body which actually fits more snugger than the originals...I also use Stainless Steel Trem bars vs. the chrome standards, they were breaking off for me. Im a whammy abuser :)

fun playing guitars! and yes Blackmore and Hendrix vibe big time!

What color is the Maple neck strat? I love it... is it Olympic white?

Does anyone know a music store in Europe where you can try a YJM, I will be going to Europe in a couple of months time (Live in Argentina)

One more thing, from all the music stores online I find there descriptions saying that the guitars come with Dimarzios... when are they going to ship with the new Seymour Duncan Fury's???

Cool man. Sounds like a cool guitar. Do these have the 9.5" radius?

About the quack thing, I've never got that from a neck pickup alone as I see that as an inbetween position thing?

its been so long since i played that guitar i cant really remember too much about it. i do know that i use all positions of a selector, not just bridge and neck, but for that guitar it might have been just that particular model.

many have said there are tons of inconsistancies with them. i believe that might have been another one of them

as for the E string falling off the neck - that yngqie strat didnt have that problem. my wolfgang did that, and i owned that guitar for many many years. i managed to adapt my playing to prevent it... sorta carries over into all guitars as a preventative measure to be honest. kind of like a subconcious thing - so i cant really say if that guitar was prone to it or not from memory :dunno:

Thing that scares me about scalloped necks is that I'd get too used to it and my 'regular' necks would weird me out. That's why I don't play a 7 string much either, going back and forth between 6 and 7 strings is too much for my feeble mind. ;0

yeah I would want to scallop the whole fleet if I kept a Malmsteen around the house ;)

i played a couple of copies and was sour on them until i tried an actual fender. it felt great. i'd like to find a nice sonic blue or red with maple board :inlove:

A note about the deep scallops you mentioned on the Fender, If you are planning on making one, the Warmoth scallop job is not anyway near as deep as his sig model....It doesn't need to be very deep at all, no clue why his are so deep.

You could also go the Blackmore style as mentioned above, his are scalloped regularly at the high E string gradually tapering to none at all on the low E.

kiko has a scallop guitar that gradually is scalloped horizontally up the neck. i believe a mix of both blackmoore and kiko would be what i would want
