I am calling them The Beard Combers. Fastback Guitars in Seattle are putting them out and they sound incredible! Based on a Duncan Distortion but with an Alnico V magnet and scatter-wound, these things are tighter than a dolphins ass. Come with a comb too! Be out in a few weeks.

UPDATE:

They are out!!! Go to http://www.fastbackguitars.com/pickups to check them out!!

Goodman Fluff, whence this knight read thine most precise description, I could not help but recall'eth this most whimsical jest:

This post now concludeth!

Congrats, it must be pretty cool to have your own custom pickups. Maybe you could go over the process a bit, like how many different versions you tried and what you had in mind to describe as the sound you were looking for going into it.

Thanks guys!

I was going for something tight and not muddy in the 180k-220k frequency range, so the pickup sounds real snappy. I personally really like an Alnico V magnet with a ballpark of a 16k resistance as well.

Test guitar was my new Schecter SLS C-7 with a mahogany body and maple top! I will be hanging out doing a show and tell at Thunder Road Guitars on March 2nd in Seattle for anyone would would like to come down and try out The Beard Combers!

I will update this post when we formally release everything!

What's the matter, you didn't like the name FLUFFBUCKER?

:D
