And I still can't get it out of my head... LOL! :D
This is unprecedented! Amp gas?

I really miss my SD80II. That amp had tone for days and was Plexi loud as hell.
Decent clean channel too.

Has anyone played the various models? Like the SD30 vs. SD45 vs. SD80? Aside from wattage and power, what would the tonal differences be?

I have a SD80II and I love it!

Haven't played the 45, but I've played all of the others, and owned most of them. The 80 has the biggest tone from the big bottles (and I would imagine the 45 is similar), and the best clean tone. The 18 and 30 are great in their own right, but the 80 is the one to get, IMO.

The 18 is the darkest and the 80 is the most aggressive (although the 45 might be now...again, haven't played it.)

The used prices are a steal and I wish everybody would stop talking about them now!! :gethim: :gethim:

How's the 80 sound at low volumes? The SD30 was terrific at low volumes.

The biggest problem with low volumes on the 80 is that the MV is touchy. The taper is tough. So whisper volume is a bit of a trick to dial in. But home practice volumes in general are not a problem. I used to use a hotplate down a couple clicks for true mouse fart volume. (see attached clip.)

If you want very low volume and don't care about having a 'big' tone and are more interested in the dirt than the clean, the 18 or 30 will do the trick.

That was the aforementioned hotplate on the 80, into the THD 2x12, with the sm57 hanging down over the top...

Hmmm... Loved it... LOL! :D

Haven't played any of the others, but the 45 is HUGE sounding. Very articulate but grindy at the same time. Has a really cool clean tone as well that gets kinda Voxish if you push it.
