Played the Tourmaster again, didnt care for it much this time, Boosted it sounded great, but by itself, I wasn't as impressed this time.

Played the JVM.....Still LOVE this amp. Dont know what it is about it, but the Fucker sounds GREAT!!!! I officially have GAS.

I went to get a mic cable, those chincy fuckers want $50 for a 25' cable. Fuck 'em went down the street to another store, (Which I hate almost as bad as GC), and got a nicer one for $15.

God I cant stand that place, I had the Store Manager, and he couldn't tell me what a MIDI cable was...... Then of course, they didnt have the one I wanted. Got online and ordered one. easy.

:D

Yep, Free shipping and no sales tax through sweetwater, why not?! :D

Sweetwater FTW.

My experience with JVM and Tourmaster was opposite actually. I loved the Tourmaster and didn't care for the JVM.
No GAS for either on these parts though :)

I played the Tourmaster for a bit but didn't really like it. Maybe its because I own a M4 and that thing blows it out of the water :D

What are tourmasters going for price wize?
Last time I tried one I was not that impressed. Great features, but not the type of high gain tones I was looking for. They were going for $1399 at GC.

Seems like a bit overpriced to me.

Don't know what kind of music you play but I'd say Tourmaster is NOT a metalhead amp at all.
Never tried an M4. Bet it's great.

It was able to get good tones, but nothing that actually made me GAS hard for it. I didn't play any modern metal through it, I tried some classic rock and 80's metal through it though with a LP Custom. But for the price, I don't think its a bad peice of gear at all, however I only played it for half a hour and didn't get to utilize the option to switch down to lower wattage, etc..

4 Channels, tube and can set power levels on each channel independently and $1399 is overpriced?

The feature list is long, but the sound list isn't from what I've heard so far (a few clips and quite a few Youtube videos).

Sound/tone is pretty subjective though. Features aren't. I think TM is one of the biggest bargains when it comes to tube amps IMO. IF you like the tone ofcourse.

The guy said, they had recently retubed it, dont know if maybe it wasn't biased right, or He was full of shit, and the tubes were just shot, but last time I played it (same amp) it sounded MUCH better.

The JVM on the other hand..... I've been on a "Modded" Marshall kick lately, and have been majorly GASsin for the Cameron, and the Splawn QR, But the JVM has got some KICK ASS tones in it. I enjoy playing that amp, I'm NOT a "Marshall" (brand) fan, never have been, until this amp came out. It's the only Marshall I would buy. The JCM800 is a GREAT amp, but I have an allergy to boosting, I HATE having that pedal in front of my amp for some reason, and I just can get past it. BUT the JVM is in no need of a boost. Tons of gain on tap.

Hell I was running the Red channel 4 with these settings and getting some KILLER tones.
Bass - 4
mids - 6.5-7
Treble - 7
Gain - 6.5

Sounded fucking massive.

:D

Maybe you should play one before you make a statement like that. Internet clips can't tell you that much about an amp imho.

I've been on a "modded Marshall" kick for the last 25 years  And with what you have, why not get a Randall MTS SL+? I swear I love that module, it's by far my favorite. I think the MTS stuff is worth owning just for that module. I have a Cameron HG Jose and a Quick Rod at home, a couple of vintage Super Leads, a vintage JCM800 and every boost pedal on the planet and when I play the SL+ module I have trouble getting the smile off my face.

Also why not send a Plexi module to Dave Friedman to be modded or maybe stratotone does a similar mod? I'd love to sell you a Quick Rod but for $200 for the SL+ module or $300 for a Friedman modded Plexi that'd be much more cost effective. And it will kick ass. All IMHO of course.

I liked the SL+ but it was still lacking something for me, It still needed a boost. I need to get another one, and try it out, and maybe either send it off to be modded or, mod it myself

Trade ya for the QR....

And for me the SL+ with the gain at about 1:00 just nails the Lynch amount of gain at 3:00 it is in Zakk territory. We all hear things differently though. What color Quick Rod do you want? I've got one due in two weeks. You could still name your cosmetics. I'll even holesaw a spot in one to slide in your MTS modules.

Yea, agreed......between thinking $1399 is 'overpriced' for a great sounding amp rivalling JVMs & Boogies, and judging a GC commonly stocked amp by internet videos....I must say I humbly DISagree with your strategy on this one.
