So that's where all the Blackmachine's are...

just read the guys description, I like how there is a "secret" that the builder wont give up, that's why he wont let people build them for him? I thought someone does build them for him? those prices are just insane! in his description he says that the least a blackmachine goes for now is 12 grand. damn! I would be curious to see how much they actually go for.

I know him. He plays guitar and has recorded a few albums. He's a really nice guy that is generous with his time. Gave me a ton of great advice on things in general. I'm a little out of touch but BMs usually move for $10k - $18k despite how people "feel". Feelings don't = the value of something.

That's cool that you know the guy. I have been saying this a long time but "price bashing/jealousy" kills a forum or gear group because it prevents people like the guy you know from sharing pics and information about his guitars since guys that would otherwise never be able to even afford the gear nor even make reasonable offers on it start bashing him.

So we get stuck with the same old people posting "fuck that guy, I can get Musikraft to make that for 500 bucks. Tell me more about Crate practice amps for my bedroom."

Yeah this place is definitely not what it used to be. I feel like if someone did well for themselves here and posted a bitchin' car they bought, people would give them shit for it instead of congratulating them. It's not really a good community. There are maybe 5 or 6 active cool supportive people on here and that's really the extent of it.

I don't know anything about these guitars, what exactly makes them so expensive?

John is a great guy. He owns some killer guitars and is a great player.

I'm curious too... first guess would be made with Unicorn glue

Impossible to get, builder uses only the finest, and oldest/rarest woods, then only builds 1 or 2 a year. There used to be an incredible demand as well. I've personally owned several and they are very nice instruments.

Yup. They are so rare that this guy has like all of them. Lmao.

This guy probably spent a million dollars buying them all up thinking he could control the market like some type of Amazon monopoly.

Sorry you billionaires are offended that some people find $30000 for a guitar a little excessive especially when all it is is hype, nothing more, nothing less.

Daaaaamn so this is the sound of a $30000 guitar. Unobtainium right there folks.

Checked out that reverb page, pretty nice looking, still do not think the materials and time are even close to that price but hey whatever.
If I was loaded I'd snatch up the black one with the blue hardware

It's like complaining about modern art. Something like Basquiat's La Hara is just a few dollars worth of paint and canvas. But enough people think it's worth millions. No point in hating on the millionaires selling it to each other just because they're able to buy something expensive that they like. And no point hating on the artist because his paint and canvas happens to be valued a lot higher than most people's paint and canvas.

If you have stuff you like better: don't be bitter, be glad it didn't cost $30,000!

Hardly fair to post that vid without your own $500 Musikraft vid for comparison

You think a Prada bag costs <whatever a prada bag costs> because it's super good at holding things? It's not about sound, it's just exclusivity and hero worship and investment -- not things exclusive to blackmachine. Basically everyone bought them trying to sell them for more -- that quilt one was Fred's. Fred sold it for like $12k or something. Francesco had it, and was asking $20k for it. Now some other guy has it, and is asking $30k. It's just how it goes -- no one knows how much money these things are actually moving for because they're mostly sold privately. If he sells for $30k it's kind of like, good for him for knowing a good investment. If it sells back down to $12k, sucks for that guy for getting in at the wrong time, etc.

I expect the price to drop bit, in the fact that all the artists have pretty much moved on, there are a lot more erg options, public dissection of some 2008/2009 blackmachine has been done and the quality was pretty bad, etc. . I mean, there was a time when almost all of my friends wanted a blackmachine, now only one wants one and hasn't had one. Most everyone that wanted a blackmachine has owned one at this point. Everyone I've talked to has said good things about the more recent ones -- not comparatively exceptional things, but good things nonetheless.

But yea, he doesn't have other people build them. Feline Guitars builds the B6 models (ash body/top that cost like $3500), and these the guy is selling are all Doug-made ones.

I've got no issue with the price. It's what the market will bear, and they obviously to seem to sell to that particular crowd.

What irks me though, is seeing high-value items sitting on boulders and in the dirt. Why is this a thing with sellers?

I've never played one so I don't have any real experience, but out of pure curiosity, are they legitimately $10k better than half a dozen brands of high-end shred guitars?
