So, the Dr. Z is making it harder to enjoy my other amps...

I spent an hour or so the other night just going back and forth between the Maz Jr., the Speed Twin, & the Studiotone. And I gotta say, now that I have the attenuator to control the Maz's volume, it's just so responsive & fun to play that, I dunno, it's like I just don't dig my other amps as much as I used to. :dunno:

When I bought the thing, the plan was to sell one of my other amps. But after jammin' the other day, I started wondering about selling *both* other amps. <gasp>

I want to have two amps, ultimately, both to have a backup for live playing, but also to be able to get different textures for my home recording project.

So if I sold the Studiotone *and* the Speed Twin, what ought I to consider picking up to go with the Maz Jr.?

Thanks!

Hard to beat a Z, maybe look at another Z model for a second amp.

Maybe since it is a backup one of those rebel 20's or jetcity 20 watters. Send it to Friedman to get modded. Inexpensive and a different and more aggressive vibe than the Dr Z.
Just a thought.

Aloha, Rob.

Same thing I thing every time I plug into my JTM45. Why even bother with anything else. I should just buy 3 or 4 JTM45's! :D

Dr Z makes some of my favorite amps ....
Any of you check out a Route 66 ??? What a great amp.

another z
maybe a monza or carmen ghia?
prescription jr looks cool too

damn thanks for the z gas

What does Friedman do to the Jetcity 20 watt amps?

He calls them the mini Marsha. Looks like the cheapest way to get a hotroded sound around. Everyone who has tried it says they sound great. There is a thread or two over at HRI.

Now THAT is what I've been looking for!
Would you happen to have some links for me good sir?

Both threads have some info .....

Someone had one sent direct from the retailer to Dave, so they never saw it not modified and saved some shipping. We are talking like $600 for a great sounding amp from what I can tell.
Thanks for the info..this is EXACTLY what I've been trying to find for months now. If I could get a Jet City 20H w/ the Hairy Brown Eye, a clean channel, and a loop for >$800, I'd be a very happy man indeed. I was beginning to think it wasn't possible.

I don't see anyone talking about the HBE in the threads, just C45 and HB. I hope it's possible, at a good price. I'd kill to have super-high gain tones at 20 watts w/ a loop and a good master. I could A/B something for clean if I had too..hmm..

I am surprised a lot of people are not getting one. I mean at this price ......

Indeed. I need to send Dave an e-mail. Anyone got his address? I'm sure it'd be easy to find, but I'm lazy today

I would just start a thread in his section. It would be very cool to see a little more info about this for all of us. Besides we stole this thread and that topic deserves its own thread.

Lol, y'all didn't steal the thread -- this is perfectly on topic discussion. I definitely would check out the possibility of a modded Jet City 20 watter (though I agree that it certainly deserves its own thread, too). For myself, I also hafta say I dig the idea of trying to pick up another Z of a different model... That would depend on what I could find used, though.

Very interesting ideas so far, fellas!
