So I ordered my n00b Cubase training disk and I get a call today from Rich saying he is my Sweetwater connection  All email will go to him, he has background in production, asked what I had, what I did, etc.

Kind of cool but is there a bad thing to this I am missing?

Well, it's either just commisioned based sales or..... Rich wants a piece of yo ass!

They just do that to try to have good customer service, I guess. The last time I ordered something and someone called me to check my address or something, the guy sounded stoned out of his mind. He just read off my order, and goes, "Hey man...THAT'S COOOOOOOOOOL!" I was quite entertained. Unfortunately, I don't think he's my sales rep person anymore. Gee, I wonder why? :D

Hope rich likes em hairy

When you deal with Sweetwater they assign a sales rep to you. My guy is Ryan Murphy. He will call and email you periodically and if you don't like that, just let em know. I far prefer their approach to service than other companies that you get some random douchebag every time you make a new order or ask something.

I don't think this every really bothered me. My "guy" gives me a call now and then informing me of products that I might not have known about. He doesn't call or e-mail so frequently that it bothers me.

Oh this does not bother me, I gave Rich of things that if they come up as open boxes, closeouts, etc to give me a shout. We shall see.

Its because Sweet Water is the bomb and they literally whip out the hang low and piss on all the competition.

It is weird, in this day and age, for a company to go above and beyond for customer service. I love Sweetwater for just this reason. I got this level of service with a small BOSS FS-5U switch....plus customer satisfaction calls periodically to make sure I was happy with the product.

I think it is pretty cool, actually. Unfortunately, my designated Sales Engineer guy would not offer ANY discount on the recording gear I wanted above and beyond the website prices. He also wanted to charge me $146 in shipping! After I asked for a discount, he said he would split the shipping with me... which was funny because all the stuff I wanted I could find from other sites with FREE shipping... I asked him what good he was if I could just order directly from the website for the same prices, but he declined to comment on this question...

So... then my Musician's Friend 20% discount coupon came and I got everything I could possibly get from them for less than used prices. They truly are the "Musician's Friend"... :D

The only thing I bought from Sweetwater was a $29.95 rack for my Apogee Mini-DAC and get this... it qualified for FREE SHIPPING! Whoohoo! I was gonna spend prolly $6-7K with them and they wanted to charge me shipping??? Oh well, my Sales Engineer called me right away to tell me he was personally seeing to it that my $30 rack was out to me ASAP...

Steve

I told a buddy to check them out based on something skyhighrocks said a while ago after music123 dicked my buddy around. Needless to say, he's gotten a couple calls and seems to be converted to sweetwater...

It is nice, but in all seriouseness, here is what I want:

1) Cheapest possible price
2) FREE shipping
3) No sales tax (must buy out of state)
4) Good packing and expeditious shipping

I'll happily sacrifice the phone calls and candy for 1)-4)

He took a look at ur avatar an realized how badly he wanted you. It's obvious... :jerkit: You KNOW what he REALLY wants..... Besides your wallet....
I think its neat anybody does a follow up call nowadays... If more retail joints paid their people enuff to give a damn to Follow up and Develop relationships, it'd surely count for more sales annually, and happier customers, the real folks,
not the fjn cynical jaded burnouts on this site!!!!!!!!!      Of course I speak from experience.....

They've noticed you participating in the recent Dumble / Ford threads over at TGP and have pegged you as a cork sniffer. Your Sweetwater polishing rag and sample of Sweetwater Manjuice Ultra Polishing lube are on their way

Steve, its funny, ya know, when I was a kid, I was happy to get ANY recognition from the local guitar shop down the street, know you by name, remember your face, s#!t like that, paid whatever the sticker was, happy 2 do so, 'cause who the fk knew, ya know?? Anyway, now after all the years of negotiating for deals on gear, worked in a guitar shop for 5+ years, man, I'm like a total FKN C%#T if I cant get it down to the last cent sometimes!!! :hys:
Then other times, previously in the shop as well as personally, I'm happy to Give s#!t away, literally.... I dunno. Maybe I'm trying to improve my karma....
