So, who's testing the Kemper Power Rack?

There is one in the trunk of my car. Just came in today. Will let you know tomorrow. It's the lunchbox powered version but same difference. This one is owned by the other guitarist in my band. I have the non powered rack version because I got tired of waiting for the powered version.

I'm running a 1000w Matrix single space amp. It sounds alright but I like the front of house sound better. May end up just running a powered monitor(at the suggestion of Stratotone). :dunno:

Gsxrbusa, did you try out that powered Kemper yet?

At band practice right now. Loaded up a few of my personal profiles and it actually sounds pretty good. Better than I thought it would. Need more time but so far so good.

We've just got ours at work. Hooked up to a recto 4x12 and with a little tweaking it sounds huge! Need to sit down with it now and look at the deeper parameters that can be adjusted, but initially im very impressed! It's super light as well do perfect for the gigging guitarist with no car ( ....Me ).

Any more updates from practice with the Kemper?

It sounds good. Have a show on the 9th so we can both run FOH with them. Hopefully it works out. I actually like the powered version slightly better than my Matrix GT1000w amp. Mine has a shitload more power but his sounds a little more natural. Idk. They are both cool.

Tube amps still rule. Lol.

Anymore at there?
I'm planning on getting one, but don't have it yet.

That's a damn fine avatar you've got there, Steve.

Bookmarked this thread. Close buying the non-powered one but only after the KPA footboard is out. After that the Ractal stuff will be for sale :-)

I do not know if this was published already but I find this also very interesting:

Dino from Fear Factory:
Dino uses the Kemper Profiling Amp. “They have new ones out. It’s rack mountable and it has a digital power amp in it. A 600 watt digital power amp. But the beauty of the thing is you’re able to capture sounds. If you have a Marshall head, a Diezel, a 5150, an EVH whatever, and you like that tone but you don’t want to bring that head with you, you can record it and capture that tone that you like and put it into your Kemper.” Some players have even gone so far as to use the Kemper to profile sounds they’ve created on their AxeFX, a similarly flexible device. “Of course! Do you really want me to get into that too?” Dino laughs. “I can get into that! Everything that I have, I’m in the process of dumping everything into the Kemper. Let’s say you add more than a thousand amps or different tones of amps in your Kemper: you can store it on a USB stick. You can trade it with anybody with a USB stick! It’s amazing! But the beauty of it is that you can create your own tone. Not a tone that somebody else already created for you that you can just tweak a little bit different, no. This is where you can create your own tone and record it into the Kemper. All the patches I had on my AxeFX: in the Kemper. All my patches that I’ve had on other stuff like the AxeFX: in the Kemper. Other heads that I have: in the Kemper. And now I just travel with a Kemper and it’s much more cost-effective, it’s easier to travel around the world, and your tone is there!”

Would love to know from Dino what he use for poweramp and cabinet/drivers.

DINNNOOO ARE YOU HERE?????

I can field this. I saw Fear Factory a couple months ago. Dino was in fact using the Kemper but no cabs or power amp. He was just using powered floor monitors to hear himself and Direct FOH.

I may end up going this route. This way you can just use cab sims. This sounds much better to my ears than using a power amp and cab.

Same as the Axe FX. Just messes things up.

Steve, elaborate please. Do you mean a power amp just messes things up or?

I thought his main tone now was a mike fortin 800 that was profiled?

Yes, I think so. Had better results as an overall rig using just FRFR monitors and power amp sims (with the Axe). No experience with the Kemper. This way you are polluting the Axe output with the voicing of a power amp or the issues with cabs. You would want to hear on stage, what the audience hears.

This is my opinion only.

Couldnt you mic the cab just like you do with a regular head/cab?
