Bought this baby from a fellow RT member here on a whim, and man am I glad that I did!!

GOOD LORD, this amp sounds so damn good!!

I've always been curious how the Avenger stacks up with other popular high gain amps, and trust me, it stacks up damn well. The lows are still a tad on the rounder side when compared to a 5150 but by no means are they loose.

I can't wait to get this to a Bushido Code practice and see how it fairs in the mix. I'm sure it'll cut like a knife!

Sounds killer. I thought about grabbing this one myself.

damn dude, you're on amp/video fire! Marked for later viewing...

Saw your vid in the morning. Sounds killer. Sounds like there's a little Recto and 5150 flavor thrown in, which is not surprising.

Is it an Avenger? Or an HR100? I had an HR100+; always thought they were 2 different circuits.
Either way sounds very nice! Good job.

I'm not sure either, but I believe the Avenger is a single channel amp whereas the HR100+ is 2 channel.

I read the Avenger was a little more ‘modern’ voiced vs the HR, but never played one. I do know there are a few Avengers in the wild with DeYoungs in them; love to hear one vs an SLO.

This is the Avenger...
The HRs have different faceplate and grill...

I used to have the 50W version...I could not make it work as I wanted to.
I changed the tubes(pres and power) but it was just mehh sounding...

I traded it for a modded 2204 and I am still happy...

Sounded cool in this clip though...

From thel4ast1's thread where he was selling the amp

"Up for grabs is my Soldano Avenger 100 watt, Hotrod version (with effects loop) . Killer amp , I recently had a 2020 SLO and have owned other SLOs in the past. I like the Avenger a good deal more for whatever reason the tighter feel and more modern voicing of this is more my speed. Don't get me wrong the Slo is an amazing amp as well. Anyways this one is in excellent condition"

The Avenger and the Hotrod are two different amps. I have had them both at different times. What makes things confusing is that if an Avenger is built with an effects loop then Soldano calls it a "Hotrod Avenger"...So all that means is its an Avenger with a loop.

The Hotrod amp has a different vibe. It wasnt as modern sounding to me. Still a nice amp but more suited to heavey rock than metal.

I’ve owned an Avenger and still own a SLO. They do NOT sound the same. The Avenger is a cool amp and isn’t a slouch by any means, but it can’t touch the SLO, imho. I can see why some guys would prefer the Avenger, though.

I recently picked up an HR100 Plus and am really liking it very much; very different voicing from my other, Modded-Marshall amps. Does everything from clean to mean pretty well.

I have had two avengers. The Avenger 100 blew the slo away for metal, imo. I bought a Slo and a diezel after selling the Avenger. I regretted it and sold both. I ended up buying another Avenger

Thanks for the info fellas. I changed the thumbnail to remove the "Hot Rod"
I truthfully don't know a ton about the Soldano lineage as I've never looked deep into it before. I just pounced on this amp when I saw it. Haha!

This thing records insanely well, and will probably get used on some upcoming tracks for me, no doubt.

The clip sounds amazing. But love all your clips. Never had a soldano. Had a slo clone. Sounded good. But had a VH4 at the time. I never played the clone much.
your vid of that hr really sounded great. ?
