Need a lightweight amp to destroy these guys using little Fender combos and such at these long Island blues jams.

Anybody play both?

I haven't tried either, but have owned the big boy versions of both (SLO and the Mzero Overdrive) and much preferred the Mzero Overdrive. My favorite amp that I've tried in that wattage range is the Divided By 13 RSA 31, but it may be a bit too loud for what you want even though it's only rated at 31 watts (it was both louder and bigger sounding than when I compared it to a SLO and 2016 Friedman BE)

Maybe the new Bogner Telos could also be an option? I haven't tried one yet but it seems cool and 40 watts

I have a skill and a regular SLO. I have not tried the HR25. The Skill just rules and will be using it for an upcoming tour. Plenty loud for any situation. Really nice tones all around and great loop and lightweight portable. I believe the HR25 is a little chunkier sounding than the regular SLO and has the improved loop so I would probably love it. Not sure if 25 watts vs 30 makes much of a difference? Ive heard some people say its not quite loud enough and others say it is but if just doing jams its probably fine. If buying used a hr25 will be easier to find

IMO you can't go wrong with either. I own a Hot Rod 25 and absolutely love it. Amazing sounding amp. I've gigged with mine many times with no problem. It's a loud beast if you need it to be and it can hang with my Mesa Mark IV, no problem.

The Skill is good also. I only got to play one for a brief time but it sounded nice. Personally I don't think I would let my Hot Rod 25 go for one, since I prefer the Soldano tone over the Mezza tone, but they both are great amps.

The KSR stuff is great for metal but can definitely do other genres really well too. Check out some of Andy Wood's playing.

Kyle @ KSR is also great to deal with. :)

Agreed KSR Ares. I might know where there is one for sale......

forget the KSR, get the Skill, it is an outstanding amp, and gets a lot of great tones. Mezzabarba knows how to build unbelievable amps. Killer blues tones for sure, but also amazing cleans and heavy distortion stuff also, all while remaining totally articulate.

you will do better with a Fuchs or Two Rock. Stellar amps and far above the 2 you list here.

Not for me. I've owned enough Dumble- style amps. Good amps, not for me.

Also looking at a Louis Electric KR-12 or Victoria 45410 (Bassman). Guys using them locally sound great w/ both amps

The Victoria tweeds are good. I hear lazy j is even better for tweed type sounds but haven't gotten to try one yet

Yeah the Victoria Bassman's are fantastic blues amps. A friend of mine has had one for years. He's a Trower nut and plays that type of stuff almost exclusively. Really killer for that application, but can be loose in the low end the heavier you try to get with your tone.

I own an HR 25, and while it may not be the ultimate blues amp, it's a killer 2 channel blues/rock/80's metal amp that really gives up the goods at a lower volume than the big boys like an SLO, BE100 etc.
Highly recommended

Sorry, never played a Mezzabarba.

I had a Carol-Ann OD-2. Regret selling it, it was a great amp. Little out of my price range these days.
I had a (year wait) Bludotone.
I checked out the Fuchs ODS, the new one. 4K  Amp sounds amazing
I got an Ethos OD if I want that type sound.

Sorry, never played a Mezzabarba.

I just played a Mezzabarba MZERO and was really impressed with how bluesy and tasty the clean channel was..even more so given the amount of gain this amp is capable of....to have that stellar a clean channel that can get clean, edge tones and classic tones all on the clean channel using a gain structure switch and a footswitchable boost was brilliant..and the amp sounded absolutely huge and open! Definitely a must try amp!

I also tried the Z35 which likewise sounded so good..it's a very simple amp the way it's set up, more of a volume knob riders dream amp....the tone is still in my head. I hope more people start discovering these Mezzabarba amps because they truly are on another level compared to my previous go to amps.

Unfortunately I did not get to try the Mezzabarba Skill, but based on what I have learned lately, I would expect it to be fantastic.
