Soldano HR50+ vs SLO100 comparison clip

Properly mic'd, not shitty phone recordings.

Not exactly a fair comparison as it's 50W vs 100W and I have different tubes in them. Also:
1. The HR50+ has a 1M gain pot and the SLO has a 500K gain pot. So under the same gain settings, the HR50+ would have a bit more gain.
2. Under the same EQ settings, the SLO has a metric fuckton more treble than the HR.

Both amps can be dialed in to have similar amount of gain and frequency response, but I used the same settings on both amps just to showcase the basic differences.
Settings: Gain 4.5, Bass 4, Mid 5.5, Treb 4.5, Vol 4, Pres 6
(Channel 1 gain on 3. As many of you already know, channel 1 on Soldano amps bleed into channel 2 so the gain setting on ch1 has some influence on ch2.)

Cab: Krank SST412
Speakers: Eminence V12
Mic: Shure SM7B

LPF at 8kHz.

Cool comparison. The SLO sounds much better to me here. Bigger, deeper, more complex. The HR sounds cool, but the SLO is clearly superior in this clip.

I guess I'm one that loves the SLO but at the same time I think the HR in this video sounds as good if not better. The SLO has great clarity but it does have that sizzle that to a lot sounds like fuzzy tone that isn't as clear as the HR's. Saying that, I love the Soldano high gain tone whether it be SLO or HR.

Funny how different people hear the same tones differently sometimes. To me the SLO was much clearer whereas the HR was a bit too dark/muddyish (although it isn't muddy). I will say this though, I'd go for a 5150 over either one for this type of music. And I freaking love my SLO.

This clip is killer. I've heard it before. I dig the SLO the most in this clip. I think the main difference between this clip and yours is the speakers. The Celestion sounds better to me than the Emenince. Also, if the settings are the same as the pic, the SLO just gets better with more volume (but you know that), and he's running at 5. This clip sounds boosted, too.

The chording on the SLO seems more defined and clear. Both sound pretty killer though. I'd be happy with either.
