Soldano Lucky 13

I'm pretty sure they do not make it anymore. A friend of mine is a Soldano freak. He had a 50w and a 100w (sold them both) and now plays a 25W soldano. They are good sounding heads but rather hard to find.

I believe the JCA20 and 22 are based off this amp. Great option ?

Honestly, they were never really popular and got passed around after initial try outs... the only reason they would be sought after now is so someone can triple their investment in a flip

Is Soldano kind of done? I know Mike recently sold the company, and appeared at NAMM, but I don’t see much demand or talk about them now. Their website is just kind of a worthless page with an email address on it. Do they still build custom amps?

Also, what do you guys think of SLO 100? What is it comparable to? Is it like a modded Marshall? I’m looking into the SLO 30.

Actually I think it was the Jet City 5212, still hard to find but same concept. Twin on CH1 and 2204 on CH2..

Why would I waste so much time/energy sifting through oceans of threads looking for needles in haystacks when I could just ask my fine-pointed questions here and have you guys answer them?

Mike just got started again with BAD, I would be if there is a market for the Lucky 13, that it will be made again by BAD.

I think the new BAD SLO30 and SLO100 are just the start.

I don’t think the SLO 100 is in modded Marshall territory at all. It’s really got its own thing going on. Sounds like a mix between a fire breathing Hiwatt and Mesa Mark with a thick and cutting midrange with tons of sizzle, if it sounds like anything, to my ears. Here’s a clip of mine: https://youtu.be/-yNs-xv-Q5I

They are actually good sounding amps. They really bring the modded marshall vibe

I agree, I don't really hear Marshall when I hear an SLO100 on recordings, its more as you described. I thought my HR25 might be an overlap with my marshall silver jubilee, but when comparing them, there was very little overlap and they both had their own unique voice and lane.

Mike does have a mod for the L13's dirty channel. It bumps up the gain quite a bit while still retaining clarity. I had a 100w head with this mod that he did for a local punk dude. I should've kept it. It was all beat to hell, but that damn dirty channel sounded like God clearing the back of his throat.

exactly right... the soldano's preamp is way to compressed when compared to the jubilee... you cant get a convincing guns and roses tone out of a SLO, its not happening.. too smoothed out with no raw clank and bright midrange attack like the jubilee.
