The amp is voiced with more of a low mid' tone. Anyone use an eq to get closer to some Marshall Kerrang?
You haven't heard a Marshall in a whilePerhaps yours is a Mesa SLO, because the Soldano SLO is upper middy af.
I would agree with this statement as I have owned several SLO's over the years and they are thick in the lower mids with less emphasis on the high mids and to my ears really don't sound all that much like a Marshall. You haven't heard a Marshall in a while
Glad someone else here agrees! I am not looking for a Metellica tone at all, more Warren DeMartini.I would agree with this statement as I have owned several SLO's over the years and they are thick in the lower mids with less emphasis on the high mids and to my ears really don't sound all that much like a Marshall.
I have a Master Effects Puppet Master Para EQ that worked really well with the last SLO that I had. Killer EQ without the Processed sound normally associated with Parametric EQ's and It could be what your looking for and there reasonably priced as well.
Even though this will get you the Metallica Master tone it can do so much tone sculpting to really boost the upper mids in a way that will bring it close to what your wanting I believe and the best part is it doesn't change to feel of your amp nearly as much as many EQ pedals do thru the loop

It really can do so much more than Metallica I assure you.Glad someone else here agrees! I am not looking for a Metellica tone at all, more Warren DeMartini.
Likely start with my Fm3/4cm which I use for effects with real amps. Plenty of Eq options!
Also If you have any Psvane EC83 12AX7's around? putting a couple in V1 and V2 will completely change the character of the amp and bring out more crunch and upper mid clarity. I have become a fan of using a couple of these preamp tubes in a bunch of my amps like my Bogner Ecstasy 101b and the Peavey 5150 as well. Cheap option to considerGlad someone else here agrees! What makes that brand different than JJ's or others? Also If you have any Psvane EC83 12AX7's around? putting a couple in V1 and V2 will completely change the character of the amp and bring out more crunch and upper mid clarity. Are you using the SLO30? I found the Overdrive channel on that amp to be muddy. If I had the Synergy stuff back then I would have liked to run the SLO module into the power amp of the SLO30 to see if I ended up with the same result or not. The Synergy SLO modules I have do not have that issue and can be dialed in for more kerrang!
I was able to cop my Marshall's tone on my SLO by cranking the presence almost all the way, pushing the mids 5.5-6, and pulling down the treble to 3.5 on the dial.Perhaps yours is a Mesa SLO, because the Soldano SLO is upper middy af.
12AX7 is the American designation, while ECC83 is the British designation. They are interchangeable in most applicationsWhat makes that brand different than JJ's or others?
My slo30 KILLS into the lay it down cab in the ua ox, have not used an eq pedal or boostGlad someone else here agrees! I am not looking for a Metellica tone at all, more Warren DeMartini.
