Soldano X88ir clipper

That sounds killer Carl..............I like it! Are you running W/D/W in the video?

I'm not hearing that roundness of the lows with this X88 versus what I sometimes hear with the SLO???????:dunno:

The pitch shift may sound better bettween the preamp and power amp? It still sounds good up front though.:2thumbsup:

Damn, that's killer tone. If you don't mind me asking, what are the settings on your pitch shifter? Also, thanks for throwing some Montrose in!

I tried it. When turned ON, the output got lower.
I always dial out low-end.
I owned countless SLO‘s. I prefer this pre-amp. Way more versatile.

I have that same Boss pitch shifter and ran it after my ADA MP1 for years. It will take a line level input without clipping badly, but it neuters the output volume. That is why I suggested putting it in the effects loop of the preamp with the loop level set to instrument. It shouldn't cause the volume cut nearly as bad there.

I eventually picked up an Eventide Micropitch which has a switch for line and instrument levels, and an "out level" to adjust the volume between active and bypass. It makes it easier with the rack stuff, but the eventide is a little more fiddly to get set to the EVH-esqe +9/-9 cent setting I am attempting, and sound wise the Boss sounds just as good (if its seeing the proper levels).

The Boss Pitch Shifter worked well in the loop. It was Hugh actually. Kinda like an always-in effect. I might try it again.
That’s why im taking a hard look into the VP4.

I tried the Boss Pitch Shifter again this morning. It sounds good, but when activated the volume drops.
The Free The ToneTri Avitar Chorus sounded huge and worked well.
I got used to running Modulation pedals out front of the amp. After disliking it for years, I got used to it and like it that way.

The Eventide micropitch should remedy the line level issue since the boss is guitar signal level. I never had an issue with my Boss PS-5 being driven by the Suhr Iso line out line levels tapped at the speaker jack but I can see where the preamp out levels may be alot hotter that what I was running.

The Eventide Pitchfactor also has the guitar level or hotter line levels selector on it pretty sure I run it on line level in my setup

Does that Fryette Power amp have a pre power section loop like the PS2 does? Just curious?

I prefer the Pitchfactor because you can set exact cents settings rather than trying to dial it in by ear, the boss PS5 does go by 5 cent increments so 5 cents is a low as you can go but 10 cents is close to the 9 cents setting alot of people use. Eventide should have actually marked the dials with exact amounts of detune on the micro pitch pedal IMHO.

I had ann Eventide Pitchfactor. It was a great pedal.
The LX II has no effects loop.
