Stumbled across an article about these looking up AC/DC tone, and havn't seen much about them on here. Anyone own/use one? Are they worth the price? I already have an mxr compressor and ts9hw tube screamer. Which would be better? It will be going into a BE100. Thanks in advance!

I had one for a minute. It was okay. Noisy though. Really poor layout and PCB design. Supposedly that has been or is being addressed. Not sure if the newer pedals have a redesign or not.

I just got the new one, different power supply. I play with a lot of gain usually and this pedal is not for that, very noisy and didn't do much.

Was going to sell it right away too BUT set everything to how ACDC sets up, Basic Marshall on 5 and it was as advertised so keeping it for now. My opinion is it's very amp specific, JTM45, Plexi, JCM800....+ all the copies all will hit the mark.

Tried it with a Yamaha THD set up like described and got the tone so I'm now in the market for a tube amp with plexi vibe, maybe a Fargen or Friedman (need a good master volume for me). Just think going back to full tube will take it to the next level. Taking it to a buddy's house to try a lot of different amps.

Played it with a Gretsch double jet and Gibson SG and really nailed it.

The only other pedal I have that is anywhere close is a Klon clone I have that seems to make everything sound full, hard to describe but I leave on mostly, Also not really a pedal guy but these 2 help me nail some of the tones I like to play.

Bottom line I would get the pedal again, hope this helps, Good luck and post up what you do.

I can't imagine it would make that much difference to a high gain amp, considering the preamp is pretty much maxxed out in terms of compression and saturation.

I haven't tried it but I do know Fil and he's an awesome guy who is very passionate about what he does.

I appreciate the response guys! I saw several vids, and it does make a difference in tone. Pete makes it sound killer.

And while playing the BE with higher volume and lower gain is great on its own, it seems this really gives some heft to the tone... I thought maybe the c45 switch would have the same effect, but not quite. The TS9, even with a small amount of gain and more boost, still cuts the low end too much. Might have to get one of these. Fkn' GAS..

These are not cheap, sounds alright but if you really want to nail ACDC first you need a plexi (or old 2203, 2204. I'm sure you would get great sounds out of the BE but something is still gonna be missing IMHO. If you really want to have some fun get an old Plexi, or a good replica and then get a good attenuator. Or get both a plexi and the Schaffer Replica

I don't want to hijack your thread too much but here is 2 clips, one is my BE w/gain set low for a somewhat doable ACDC tone and the other is my Metropoulos 12,000 NVM amp attenuated with an Alex attenuator. Big difference here!

Hey man, Thanks for the vids! Sounds killer! I've run my BE through my Rockcrusher, maxed OUT MAAAN! and I think the master fx loop return/master volume does a better job. I've tried 4 different types of speaker (v30, EVH 4x12, g12h30 70 anni, t75) and you are right, something is missing.. now for other tones it kills, but for that raunchy, maxed plexi tone... almost, but not 100%. I've used different guitars, including my late 60's early 70's SG. Maybe it's just the operator   . I think maybe the Phil X has more of what I'm looking for. Dangit!

That's what I'm getting at, something is missing cause the BE is not a Plexi, plexi inspired yeah. You need an old school original Marshall circuit to get more in the ballpark. BE was close but not close enough for me and that's what started me down a long winding path the last couple years of buying old 2203- 2204's, then plexi replica's and that's when I finally found it about a year ago. My new phil X does indeed have more of it and more raw for sure but still is not spot on like my Plexi's or even my 2203.

Also I found pickups will make a HUGE difference with the BE in getting more ACDC. Low output PAF style are a must. Around 8k, very low output but gets you much closer with a modern amp like the friedman. If you are looking to get a good one for cheap for the bridge a used Seymour Duncan Seth Lover will be good but if you really want to get old school vintage low gain sounds the much more expensive Wizz pickups and OX4's will make a world of difference. Very pricey but I buy them used and it just sounds vintage.

 Thanks for the advice! The pups in my sg are minibuckers, not sure of the resistance, but I hear what you are talkin about, because the EVH pups in my Jackson have much more ooomph, and even with the volume rolled back are a little too much. I'll check 'em out.
