Solving the problem of rack rash/damage?

I keep seeing people selling rack equipment with 'rack rash', how can this be avoided? Just curious.
 
They sell nylon washers so the screws are not touching the rack face itself.
 
Unless you have a rack that sits at home or your rack gear spaced there isnt much you can do. You can minimize it with felt pads (like from chair feet) between the units on the 4 corners, gently remove them from the rack and fill the rack from the bottom up so you dont catch screw heads from older units across the top or bottom.

1. set the rack on its back facing up.

2. set your gear in there.

3. mount everything with nylon washers.

4. flip it back up.

Haha LOL.

I use a valve amp, no rack stuff for me, though a rack PC and Tuner would be cool.
