Pretty much play though my Stiletto mostly and just from boredom have been amp shopping even though I have too many already. Salivating hard over an SLO i played as well as Blue equipped Vox combo etc etc. So I look at my poor, neglected Laney AOR 50 6 knobber, fire it up and it's instantly fucking glorious and kicking on my pedal of choice with the bass boost is gnarly metal Godliness. I got the damn thing for $350 + tax which is about the going rate for them (350-400). Instant GAS relief and realizing even the SLO didn't sound better, just different.

Nothing better than playing your own gear and realizing what you already have suites your needs just as good if not better than the gear you have tried. GAS can be a sneaky bitch at times. I found my gear desires were much less, if not completely removed if I simply played the gear that I owned and made it work by trying new things.

Yup. Different is good. Only thing I gas for these days is a Wizard, which I can't afford lol. However amps I've had and sold haunt me....went on a 2C+ tear and sold a Jubilee to get a second C+. Kinda regret that and wish I would have kept the Jube. Love the C+ I kept but....hmmmm.....there's an original 2555 for a good price......hmmmm....

Yeah, I don't think it's necessarily different, distinct tones we're after. We're just bored and we want some different knobs and cosmetics to look at. I have so many recordings where I couldn't tell you what amp I used because I always dialed in what I gravitate towards no matter the amp. Now that I'm older I can appreciate very different tones so I try not to get too many of a similar type of circuit. Next on my list is some 2x12's with mixes of Alnico and old school ceramic speakers. Something other than the usual Celestion shenanigans.

What's the best sounding amp on the planet?
The next one you wanna buy,
:D

I had two different AOR 30s (one head, on combo) but never loved them. They sounded a bit buzzy and harsh. Never had that thick smooth gain I was looking for. However... At the time I only had V30s lying around and I wasn't playing in a band to appreciate their cut. I probably needed something smoother like greenbacks to appreciate the AOR.

The AOR30's were a little different sounding than the AOR amps with the EL34's.

Hiwatt made a 30 watt head in the 80's that was pretty nice. Lead 30 or Custom 30, something like that. Very Marshall like.
