i figured out along the way and use quite often.

the low/high inputs are really useful, but REALLY useful if you make them footswitchable.
use a regular old on off tip+/sleeve- footswitch. regular old cord. i use the boss fs-5. do this, and your hi/lo input is footswitchable (*same with a 5150 amp). i'm debating modding my eggie footswitch with another switch and running a simple 2 conductor cord to it 1/4 inch style...i know this will devalue the footswitch but, i've already put 4 mods on switches on the back of the amp and added a mod that is knob adjustable (more on that later) . so, im thinking i'm going to do this, it'll save the space on my pedal board, and i can just put a SP/ST switch on the eggie switcher somewhere, it wont bother me a bit...i'm slick like that.
so, if you like both hi/lo inputs for different applications, and want them footswitchable, you can do it easily as i said above with an on off footswitch and a simple cord

the effects loop is really useful too, aside from it being series/parallel switchable, you can also use it as a boost (which, adds the v7 effects loop tube into the mix too) if you dont use it for effects. just take an ordinary 1/4 inch jack type cord (like those ones u connect pedals together with), plug it in the out/return....set your levels to taste, and, voila....you can have it set as a parallel boost or a series boost, pending your like of the setting...or you can use it as a mute, and if you send the speaker simulator out to a tuner....you have more less rendered yourself a muted tuning capability.

you can give your tourmaster a more defined voice by switching out TWO stock tubes to the following:
v5 JJecc83s
v8 Sovtek LPS or mullard cv4024 (each should be around 15-25 pending where).
i suggest a JJ ecc83 or 83s in the v5 slot because it gives the contour knob more help in the low mid area, and adds some extra growl and some more character to my ears.

you can also put a 12at7 in the v8 PI section...currently, i'm using a mullard cv4024 12at7 there, and it gives a bit more definition and punch in the clean channels, but, imho, it takes away from some of the voicing that i like about the OD channels, so, i'm going to put a sovtek 12ax7 LPS back in there....just my personal preference, but the 12at7 WILL make a difference with cleans...esp, if you switch to low input via footswitch like i detailed above..you'll really notice those cleans ringing out the notes.

i will also say, this amp sounds fine at lower volumes, and actually the OD channels sound great scooped at lower volumes, esp OD 2.....but, you're not experiencing what your tourmaster can do unless you're opening the volume up a bit...channel volumes around 2oclock, and master anywhere after 10oclock.

cheers.

i have other tricks, and tips, but they're more in depth, and im tired, and my wife wants some lovin'...so, the mods i did will have to wait for another day.
