Choices:

1. Dimarzio PAF Pro
2. Dimarzio Tone Zone

This is a clip from Bad Brains album God of Love. I love the tone but I can't figure out if its a Tone Zone or PAF Pro. I bought a Tone Zone and it sounds nothing like that so its got to be the PAF?

Sounds like a Super Distortion to me. Definately not the Tonezone or PAF Pro...I have owned both.

Ok sorry, Dr Know from Bad Brains is known to use a PAF Pro and a Tone Zone at least all the articles say so. Thats why I chose those 2 choices. Im nearly sure he only uses a JCM800 head for that tone... so anyhow.

This is why i posted. If it doesn't sound like a PAF Pro.. im pretty stuck since no one seems to know how what the hell the guy plays.

I heard at one point he was using a Mesa 2:90 without a preamp. I have no evidence to back this rumor, just perpetuating the rumor...

Yeah, I sort of remember reading something about either slaving a 2:90 or using a mark series, or sumpthin Boogie related, some shit that stuck out cause I was running sorta similar gear, (Fk me my memories' so shot,.. ) from some offhanded bullshit flowchart in a rock rag in my collection at least 10 yrs, back.... If its that important I'll go dig the thing out to be sure..... Eventually..... But I'd SWEAR his live rig was the point an BOOGIES were involved....

Well, sure if you want to try and find it. You can youtube Bad Brains and he always has a Marshall stack behind him.. except for this last tour in 07-08 which he uses a Dual Rectifier.

Im thinking Dr. Know uses a OD pedal of some kind but damn, I can't find anything with is rig.

I suppose it is important because I am trying to get a similar tone but for the hell of me I can't. I seem to keep spending money on it too. lol. Im using a RR1 USA V and maybe its completely impossible.
