As both a drummer and guitar player, I can sit all day and listen to his isolated drum tracks on YouTube. Such an unbelievable drummer who played for the song but always sounded different somehow than any of his peers. It is the way he plays the snare and toms and always adding these cool little triplets with his feet. He was in my top 5 fave drummers easy. Huge loss, a lot of drummers in metal now should go back and listen to how it should be done. This isn't even a matter of becoming bigger in death than he was in life because he was always a beast and people have always said that lineup with Marty and Menza was the best Mustaine ever had. I bet most would agree with that.

I think in heavy music anyone who retains a little swing and looseness always makes it better to my ears. He had power when it was needed but sounded like a rhythmic human being as opposed to a human triggered metronome.

Well said. You might as well be listening to ezdrummer nowadays because that is what most of them sound like.
