Less is more. The more gain you use, the less articulate your sound gets.

A 5150 doesn't need a boost pedal..

+1

I Run a 482I between my randall rm4 and my peavey 50/50 poweramp and turn the process off and run the low contour at about 1/4 for a killer bass boost

I have a sonic stomp, and love it with my bass and electric acoustic- electric guitar, not so much. To my ears it basically boosts bass and treble, and scoops mids. I find it useful in the loop of my VH4 when I'm playing quietly or practicing- I simply increase the mids on the amp. However, when with a band or in a mix, I prefer playing without it because I find upping the master nullifies the need for it. Most guys here hate 'em, but to each their own- i say give a shot and if you don't like it, don't keep it

Decided to run my RM4 and modules through a 6L6 based power amp so I hooked the RM4 output to the BBE 882I and into MY Rm100's serial effects loop return and the bass is huge almost in deizel land. Wish i had a deizel or Bogner (XTC on the way) in there to really see if i can emulate that tone, I know there are alot of haters of these BBE SM's but if used judiciously and not having any of the settings cranked (in fact they sound best at relatively low levels like 1/4) they can really enhance your sound in several different ways.
