That AX-FX thing has you deep in its clutches dosent it?? I think Im starting to see a trend here. Its like crack, you do it once, and then, it OWNS YOU !!!!! You sell everything to please it, but its never enough! You start out with a PC and pro tools LE, then its obselete by the time you get it home ! MUST HAVE MAC-PRO AND PRO-TOOLS HD!!! The rabbit hole is very unforgiving and expensive! Ha, Ha! I too am going through the home studio nightmare, have found some stuff that is amazing, and a bunch that is junk. Wish I had spoke more to people who knew what they were talking about, before I spent any money, would be way ahead now. Have 1 friend, Jerry, who has been a huge help in dealing with my ignorance, if I would have listened to him more, I would not have purchased half the crap I did, and spent that money on good mic-preamps. Anyway, now that you are asleep, good luck on your trip down the rabbithole!!

  Yeah, I told Bob I should've taken the Blue pill, but live and learn :D

I started building a computer to record with, and have had issues with it, so fuck it, I'm gonna get one "pre-made" and deal from there. That is my focus point right now, I dont play out, and I REALLY want to get back into recording again, and the Axe is a monster, so fuck the XXX. (althought it has actually been one of my favorite amps)

Had really good luck with Mac-pros. Get extra hard drives for record-only and storage. Had a almost new Lacie 500gb external drive that bit the dust, and lost a entire month of work on a project !! Stick with seagate drives, good reliability. Mac-pros are very easy to install stuff on. Really nice layout inside. Have installed 2 extra 750 gb drives with help from a good friend [jdc2112] and all the UAD internal cards, and I know nothing about computers! By the way the UAD plug-ins are unbelievable!!!!

Cant afford a Mac, I'm gonna just try and pick up the best machine I can for the money, and will be using an M-Audio 24/96 card, a mackie 1202, EZ Drummer and Reaper.

Not trying to get in over my head, just want to be able to record some songs, and maybe collaberate with some guys online. more concentrating on playing and writing than gear for a change. (yeah right). :D
