His tone switched drastically when the 90's hit and i wanna know the speakers he was using back then.

What i've found so far from his facebook is that he used is Folkesson modded marshall still back then and a bit of those shitty hawk amps(Pun intentional).

Anyways, the speakers are what matters the most. Just listen how crushing his guitar tone is on the album:

Just about every album sounded huge in the early 90s even if the guitar players used the same gear as before, I'm guessing it probably has more to do with the recording than with the guitar gear.

This album was produced by Beau Hill and he mentioned in one interview that he usually used 1 or 2 sm57s for guitars. Speakers still are a huge factor of the sound.

I'm thinking Greenbacks and G12-65s when i listen to that album, but i'm just asking if someone has some inside info.

Yeah, I definitely have no info either way if he used a different speaker or not and it would definitely explain a big part of the difference if he did. But there's plenty more than the choice of mic that goes into why a recording sounds the way it does on a finished record, so I wouldn't say that the same amp and the use of a SM57 points to the speaker straight away. Have you tried asking Kee if he remembers anything?

Man, that dude is so underrated. I didn’t follow Europe after 88. I need to go back and listen to some of this later stuff. That rocked.
Have no idea what he’s playing through, but my ears say Marshall (Super Lead or JMP) into Greenbacks or G12-65s. Whatever it is, it’s very nice and raw, modded old school rock tone. And the playing is just ferocious.
