Not enough gain? nope!
too much mids? nope!!
voiced only for 80's? nope!!!

One last recording with my Quickrod before I head into Axe-FX territory!

Sorry for the playing, it SUCKS , I only had 20 mins to record it while my pizza in the oven was baking. blahblahexcusesblahexcuses :D

Did this for the HCAF drum jam, just for fun, since I've never really participated in any sort of backing track jam and wanted to see what I could muster up.

Mic'ed with a single SM57, one take on hard left and hard right, then double tracked.
Gear 3, gain at 1:00, Fulltone Fulldrive 2 MOSFET used as a clean boost only. Pretty low volume, about 8:00, in half power mode. Pretty much all the other EQ controls are at 1:00. No post EQ or anything, just raw tracks.

I have been thinking....my quickrod doesn't have much gain...I love it, no doubt, but it really is a clean gain. I use a boost....but compared to my other guitarist, his tone is like beez and mine is clear and hits ya in the chest. totally different.

Sounds good. It's like polite metal!   Yeah, like crwnd said, it's clear and holds together well, while some metal tones are just like layers of fuzz with no real grind. This would sound awesome double tracked with my Mesa.

I actually usually play on Gear 2, with the gain still at about 1:00, OD1. I rarely boost, but to be fair, the Tone Zones do add a bit more gain.

It does sound good and to me that's what metal should sound like. Some of the heaviest stuff ever recorded was done with Marshall jcm 800's and they don't have any more gain than the QR's or less if I remember right.

In my band I play gear 1, overdrive 1, and then boost with a ToneFreaks Abunai 2 or a v.3 OCD on the low setting. If I dive into gear 2 and 3 the bass is sometimes crushing!

We are kinda like Alice in Chains though, so I try to get that Jerry tone, while my other guitarist tries for Behemoth. :D

It's not my personal taste, but it has beef. Thick, chewy, I could this for someone like Kyuss. I like a little more clarity but I bet with volume it crushes.

Sounds great Khoi - those setting are pretty much where I hang out too except OD2, Bass 10 oclock, Treble off

haha I could've used more treble actually! ...or just move the mic over an inch.

but I made a video just for the hell of it, I'm gonna try to start cataloging my amps for whatever reason for the youtube folks
