First up is my Splawn SS1. Jason Oberly kindly painted my favorite comic book Tomb of Dracula on this. It had to be modified a bit to get about the hardware but I think its great. It will have a reverse headstock painted matching black with a rosewood fretboard. Should be done soon and I cant wait. I already have a Splawn SS2 and it plays like butter.

I am also a raging Neil Zaza fan as I was a student of his years ago. These Carvin/Kiesel NZ624s look awesome. This amber quilt one is in stock. Im tempted to buy this. I have had a very bad last 10 months and I have decided to get an NZ624 when I return to work in early June. I probably order a custom but the Amber Quilt in stock is tempting. Too tempting.

Those Carvins are amazing lately, i`m gasing big time for a Jason Becker model, soon i say, soon.

Need to sell some of my guitars first and then it`s a goooooo.

I just have to many guitars

Im pretty sure Im getting the Carvin also. The Splawn was paid for last June. Then all I need is a good traditional strat and Ill be good to go.

Ironically Im going to hold off on the Carvin as Neil is going to let me put my filthy paws on his collection so I dont buy blind. He's on tour in India so wont see him until June. Gives me time to finish my last dose of chemotherapy and bond with my Splawn when it lands.

Hey Doug, hope you are feeling well ! I've eyed the Neil guitar on Carvin's website lately myself. I'm thinking of getting some more gear soon and start playing again. Carvin is on my radar for a build of some sort.

Excellent ! The Carvins get opinions all over the board from my reading. Im not looking for resale or trade value ( I love my Splawn guitar but probably could not sell it if I tried even though I love it as much as my Charvel custom). I think I just want things that fit me and do what I want them to do. The Splawn SS1 with my favorite comic on it is purely for me.

Im still in my 80s hair band even though they had to cover me for months when I could not walk or even play. Im doing better but still have a long way to go. I did gig twice this year but I had to sit and the band had to roadie for me completely. Could not carry anything myself. It sucked.

Is there a certain model you are eyeballing Jason ? I like the Vadar and the SCB a lot but Ill order the NZ624 first.

Hey, i saw your pics on facebook when you sat in on the gig..i think i saw you nail "eruption" also :) :) brought a smile to my face brother ! Been praying for you ! I actually think a contour 66 with a wilkinson trem may be what i want. Not sure yet. So many options/models to choose from. I'm a little concerned about ordering without being able to try though.

I dont like ordering blind either. Luckily I wont have to. Neil had a Cort model out about 10 years ago. $800 and would not stay in tune. I loved the feel of the neck and the sustain with the through body strings. The Carvins have never been bashed for shoddy craftsmanship that I can find so I hope that the NZ624 is just his Cort ( junk) with a better build quality. Id be thrilled.

I'd be willing to bet it's a much better quality than the Cort. Or you can search ebay and get some old Hamer Californian guitars he played way back when..    seriously though, His carvin/keisel is sweet !

Cool graphic on the guitar!
Also agreed in the recent Carvins, they look enticing!

So deflated. My guitar I was so looking forward to having my favorite comic painted on it is not going to happen. I paid in full and the artist did the artwork last March. The guitar sat from April until now waiting to be finished but Im told by the builder that he " started seeing specks forming in the clear coat. So we took it back apart and wet sanded and buff again but they are coming from further down."

Im not mad at the builder but Im uber deflated after waiting 9 months to get told this today. just completely deflated and disappointed.

Damn. That sucks man. That graphic came out great. How bad is it? Maybe it would be worth taking a chance
and leaving it. you could always refinish it later if it gets worse.

Actually have decided to go ahead and finish the guitar. Im told the blemishes are hard to spot so it may not turn out as bad as originally thought. Im hoping for the best. Worst case scenario is Ill have the artist do the graphic onanother guitar.

Has he sent you pics of the blemishes? Maybe have him throw you an honest and fair discount. You've been a good customer to Scott over the years

He is being his usual great self. He is willing to ship it to me and if I take issue with it he is willing to work something out for me. Im not complaining. Thinking about ordering one of those new fangled 50 watt heads.

I was deflated at first but this is going to work out fine,
