This is pretty damn good..
I almost want to call bullshit on his tone/recording. Wonder if it's been tweaked at all?

To me...not spot on...but sounds great...Dimed that fucker...that is funny!

pretty close...at some point though, kinda like Pete Thorn said in the SL68 vid, it's what you do with tone. Go out and write a kickass rock tune!

I've got a buddy that get in that 97%+ zone where it's just that close to Eddie, but he plays in a Foreigner, kicks ass and sounds great. If you can nail Eddie's tone great, but what's he doing after that?

I thought it sounded killer! The solo guitar parts weren't played accurately, but the rest was great...

Steve

Not bad. The original Unchained sounds almost lo-fi when you listen to it now. And not a real big fan of the Gibson strat, but that's me being an elitist, nothing to do with tone.

That cat killed it man, very impressive.

Regardless of how microscopically "spot on" it was, he played it umpteen times better than I ever will.

Pretty close really, especially the intro, I might not have been able to tell the difference and I'm a huge VH fan!

I thought he did a great job! Sounds really good and very close.

Do you mean Frankie? EVH's original Frankie used to have a Gibson decal on the headstock as a joke.

I didn't know that. I saw the decal and went psshhht. Not really a big deal either way.

Played it great but the tone isn't even close in my opinion. That sounds more like Ratt than Fair Warning.

... just played Unchained. Confirmed, nothing spot on about the tone. Sounds good, but it's not the Fair Warning tone. It's missing the distinct graininess that's all over the album.

This may be true but I somewhat attribute that to vintage gear and older recording methods. This guy's tone is better imo. :dunno:

Ed had the same tone live on that tour.

I'm not dogging how it sounds, just providing my answer to the subject of the thread.
