Does anyone have any experience with these 2 pickups? I did order the DSH+ for an Ibanez Prestige RG3120 (Mahogany Body/Maple Top) and wondering what the tonal differences are between the two as far as bass/mids/treble. I had the Tone Zone in there, the Super Distortion and a JB and could not get the soound I wanted. Could someone also explain the differences between the SSV and DSV neck PUs. I might replace the DiMarzio Air Norton, but it will be hard to do since that PU sounds good.

The only difference is the "D" series has two rows of screws, instead of one row screws and one row slugs. Just smooths the top end a little and a touch rounder, not much difference.

i had a DSH/DSV set for a little while, cool pickups in a prestige sz1220 (mahogany body/maple top , PRS style guitar), it seemed to lack the cut or bite and to some extent warmth for me, i replaced it with a BKP mule in the bridge which is less output more PAF style and been really happy ever since,

i think the DSH pickups would probably be a better match in more strat styled guitar than what i had it in, Suhr use SSH in mahogany style guitars from what I've seen in the catalogue, if i had the choice again i'd probably try out the SSH or SSV+ for the bridge position,

The DSV in the neck wasn't anything special really, seemed to lack body for want of a better word, what i got from the set was it was very clear and defined with a sort of single coil type of clarity/response to some extent, but didn't have the presence or warmth i was looking for particulary - i've since found i'm more into the PAF vibe or slightly hot rodded PAF , and i love p90s in the neck position so i ordered a BG pickup pure 90 for the neck

I would keep the air norton in the neck if i were you, and look carefully into your options for a bridge pickup, a lot of great hand wound stuff out there, just have some idea of what you want/looking for, i've had great results with BKP so i would probably look into their stuff again , they have a great website with tone examples:

the DSV+ i put into my all mahogany PRS SE however absolutely smokes tho, for me it seems the perfect pickup for what i do in that guitar

Thanks for the info. I do have a pair of Holy Diver BKPs in a Alder Bolt On. They sound great for lead playing and I have played them through the Bogner XTC 101B, Engl Savage, and Shiva.

that is interesting, it might just be the voicing as well that i didn't gel with (i was migrating from a cheapish alnico 5 les paul burstbucker style pickup), still great pickups by all means, i'd love to try a doug aldrich pickup as well, should a maybe mentioned that before as a potential bridge pickup for the OP considering they're voiced for LP style guitars from what i gather

As people on jemsite know, I LOVE tone zones.... that said its too dark in mahogany guitars. Evos brighten the sound a LOT and sound great in mahogs. Too bright on alder and basswwood. I know you're asking about those others specifically, but as you know, you have a ton of options here :p.

Thanks everyone. I already ordered the DSH+ and I hope I like it as much as Andy does. I just wanted to know the differecnes between the two. BKPs rock!!! I have a set of Holy Divers in my Alder Bolt. I have a Nailbomb/Cold Sweat Neck on order for my ESP NTII.
